Sussex HIA will be attending MSOPC Annual Conference and Public Address 2019.
We will have our own stand and we will be delighted to introduce our services to everyone attending the meeting.

Thursday 25th April, will be our annual Public Meeting at Clair Hall in Haywards Heath. 10am arrival with coffee / tea and biscuits, for a 10.30 start.

We will have Katie Bourne, Police Crime Commissioner, giving a talk and answering your questions. This is a free event for over 60’s, and lunch will be provided, so places need to be booked on 01444 242760, or e-mail Nicola@msopc.org.uk.

Sussex Home Improvement Agency are helping support Sussex residents in the Horsham and Haywards Heath ares. Following agreement we are able to support vulnerable residents with the repair of failed gas appliances. Last week Sussex HIA met with Foundations and ran through what it plans to acheive. Foundations are the national body, funded by MHCLG to support nationwide HIAs. It was a good meeting that saw Sussex HIA move one step along the line to accreditation. More news on this over the next few months.

After a successful recruitment for a new caseworker Sussex HIA is now looking to recruit to the Chair of the advisory board. For information about the position and the roles and responsibilities please look under opportunities on the website. With Winter getting nearer now is a key time for the organisation and if friends need support please get in touch and we can try and help.

Sussex HIA will be recruiting soon. The organisation will be looking to take on a caseworker that can help get some of the new services and support up and running. Clients who contact will be looking for support and advice to help them resolve health and housing issues.
Sussex HIA is governed by an Advisory Board and we are looking to find someone who can take on the position of Chair. A challenging and fulfilling role working with staff and volunteers to provide great support for the residents of Mid Sussex and Horsham.

COLD WEATHER WARNING
The Met Office, in conjunction with Public Health England, has issued the following severe cold weather alert for London:
Severe Winter Weather - Level 3 - Cold Weather Action alert
This warning is in place from 09:00 Friday 23rd February to 08:00 Thursday 1st March.

Level 3 is triggered when the Met Office confirms threshold temperatures for one of more regions have been reached for one day and the following night, and the forecast for the next day has a greater than 90% confidence level that the day threshold temperature will be met. This stage requires social and healthcare services to target specific actions at high-risk groups.
Level 3 is an important stage for social and healthcare services who will be working to ensure readiness and swift action to reduce harm from severe cold weather.
