Ever noticed how your mind can spiral… even when nothing is actually happening?
That was me at the start of today’s ride — overthinking, anxious thoughts running ten steps ahead, nervous system in fight-or-flight.
So I used the exact tools I teach my clients to regulate their nervous system on the trails:
• Slow your pedalling and your breathing so your heart rate stops driving the panic
• Let the sound of water pull your attention out of your head and back into the present
• Use sight + sound + movement to interrupt the anxiety loop
• Let the trail stabilise you instead of your worries running the show
Within minutes my body had relaxed, the noise in my brain switched off, and I settled into the ride. My first proper test on my new bike and I absolutely loved it ❤️
This is nervous system work. This is what I coach.
Not “mind over matter.”
"Push harder".
