Healthy breasts come in all shapes, sizes, and densities - it’s important to recognise when something’s not right. Checking your breasts for any unusual changes can help discover breast cancer early.
Checking your breasts can help you become familiar with the normal look and feel of your breasts and pecs, making it easier to identify any changes. These changes might include lumps, swelling, skin texture changes, or unusual pain. Early detection is crucial for breast cancer. If you notice anything unusual during a monthly self-exam, it is important to consult your GP

Every year, around 56,000 women in the UK will receive a breast cancer diagnosis – and around 400 men a year in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer - at least 30% are preventable
The causes of breast cancer aren’t fully understood. The genes you inherit, your environment, and how you live your life all play a part in contributing to your risk of developing breast cancer. https://www.breastcanceruk.org.uk/about-breast-cancer/ to find some of the most common breast cancer questions answered, including how breast cancer develops, how common it is and how your hormones play a role in determining your level of risk.
Male risk figures may seem low in comparison to the women’s figures every year, but it’s still too high and in men its often discovered later, so it is vital that more men become aware of the causes and signs of breast cancer and what they can do to reduce their risk of getting this devastating disease.
