When a child lives with epilepsy, there’s often more going on beneath the surface. 💭
Fatigue, confusion after a seizure, side effects from medication, or simply the pressure of trying to keep up - it can all take its toll. For some children and young people, it shows up in how they behave.
This doesn’t make them difficult. It makes them human.
Understanding why behaviour might change is the first step. Supporting it with kindness and clear strategies is the next.
We’ve pulled together some informed, supportive ways schools can help.
Read our guide and share it with your child's teacher 👉 https://ow.ly/SqOl50Y4HQN
Also, find free downloadable resources, like Individual Healthcare Plan (IHP) templates and the ABLE form here 👉 https://ow.ly/Wmfl50Y4HQO
These practical tools help schools and families better understand how epilepsy impacts a young person at school and how to tailor the support they receive.
Because behaviour is communication and every young person deserves to be heard.

Children’s Mental Health Week is a reminder of how important it is that every child and young person feels supported, understood and able to thrive emotionally.

For disabled children and young people, or those with additional needs, mental health can be affected by many things, including access to the right support, experiences in education, health needs, sensory challenges, and feeling different or misunderstood.

If you’re worried about your child or young person’s mental health, these organisations offer trusted information and specialist support:

YoungMinds offers advice and support for children, young people and parents: https://f.mtr.cool/liyrsqlxpj

Mind offers information, guidance and local mental health services: https://f.mtr.cool/pmrirwamci

Beat offers support for eating disorders, including help for families: https://f.mtr.cool/pnxocgigyp

And because children’s wellbeing is closely connected to the wellbeing of the adults caring for them, support for parent carers matters too.

At Contact, we’re here to support the whole family. We offer:

💬 Listening Ear - a chance to talk things through with someone who understands life as a parent carer: https://f.mtr.cool/trlenrfrru
📞 Our free information & advice helpline - providing information and advice on education, benefits, health and social care (Call 0808 808 3555): https://f.mtr.cool/hpbfhvruvi

Looking after your own wellbeing isn’t separate from supporting your child, it’s part of it 💚
