As announced by FE Week on 4 December 2025, the training provider Acacia Training Ltd (Highfield Centre Number 15144) has closed. With the Crime and Policing Bill 2024–25 introducing a specific criminal offence of spiking, expectations across the night-time economy are rising fast, and staff need to know how to spot the signs and respond correctly. The registered charity Stamp Out Spiking has developed a Spiking Awareness course, available through Highfield Online Training.

In around an hour, it covers how to recognise and manage suspected incidents, safeguarding and extra resources, with an instant digital certificate to evidence due diligence. It also supports the learning outcomes for the SIA Door Supervisor and Door Supervisor Refresher spiking training requirements, helping to reduce mandatory classroom hours.

Happy 1st Birthday to our Living with Menopause group - What's not to talk about?

This month marks one year since we launched our Living with Menopause — a supportive space not just for those experiencing menopause, but also for anyone with friends, family, or colleagues who may be going through it.

Over the past 12 months, this amazing group has hosted monthly sessions covering key menopause related topics with an average of 15 attendees, meaning around 175 total attendances! Each session has offered open conversation, shared experiences, and practical advice — with all content also being made available as a podcast for colleagues to access anytime.

To celebrate our first birthday, we came together with coffee, cake, and a chance to reflect on the impact the group has had.

We were proud to represent South Yorkshire at the House of Commons Business and Trade Committee Roundtable, hosted by The University of Sheffield on Tuesday 28 October 2025.

Our Director of Business Development, Dominic Binks, joined around 40 invited businesses from across the region to discuss the factors affecting business growth both locally and nationally.

Our message was clear: continued investment in skills development and the recognition of apprenticeships as a cornerstone of vocational education is vital to sustaining growth and opportunity. We were encouraged to hear these views strongly echoed by fellow employers and acknowledged by the Committee, reaffirming the need to maintain momentum in this critical area.
