Today the Heath Action Team (HAT) Cat, Moya and Leanne visited Stirling SMILE for a multi health education session.
There were workshops promoting health screening, clinical observations, keeping safe in the sun and so much more.
We even had a chocolate Bristol Stool Chart to support education on constipation, a chocolate bar with a different purpose today yummy.
We also had Kate the senior therapist from the Moving Forward Service join us with a range of mindfulness activities.
We also supported our first year Learning Disability Students from Sheffield Hallam University who are currently on their first placements.
Well done to everyone involved including the SMILE staff members who are always on hand to demonstrate and support.

Essential resurfacing works by Doncaster Council Highway’s team are due to start on Weston Road, Balby, on Monday 30 March and finishing by Thursday 2 April.

This means that Weston Road will be closed between 8am and 6pm each day. The road will reopen in the evening from 6pm.

The Weston Road entrance will not be accessible for vehicles during this time. All patients, colleagues and visitors who are traveling in vehicles will need to use the Woodfield Park entrance on Tickhill Road to access the site.

A signed diversion will be in place for motorists during the closures, but pedestrian access is unaffected.

💧 Why the Therapy Pool Appeal Matters

In this short video, Rebecca Pilkington, Clinical Lead Physiotherapist at RDaSH, explains the real impact the hydrotherapy pool has for the people who use it.

Hydrotherapy isn’t just about recovery after illness or injury. For many people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex health needs, the warm-water environment provides something incredibly valuable – the chance to move more freely, build strength, ease pain and experience relaxation and wellbeing. It can also be a powerful sensory experience that supports both physical and emotional health.

The current pool at the Diamond Activity and Therapeutic Centre was installed in 1996 and no longer meets the needs of the people it supports today. Our £250,000 Therapy Pool Appeal aims to replace it with a modern, larger pool and improved sensory space so more people can benefit safely from water-based therapy. ()

For some individuals, being in the water is one of the few times they can move freely, relax their muscles, and simply enjoy the feeling of independence.

Please take a moment to watch Rebecca explain why this campaign is so important.
