Spring Covid Boosters 2026

We are not providing spring covid boosters here at the surgery, if you are eligible and have been contacted to book your vaccination please book either via your NHS app or by phoning 119.

If you are a housebound patient and are expecting a Covid booster this spring, you will be contacted before a clinician visits you to provide the vaccination.

Recent Meningitis cases in Weymouth

There have been three recently reported cases of meningitis in Weymouth. This strain is distinct from the outbreak previously identified in Kent. All three individuals are currently receiving appropriate treatment.

The first two cases have been linked through a shared social network. The third case was not initially associated with the first two; however, subsequent laboratory testing has confirmed that it is of the same strain.

As a precautionary measure, the following groups are advised to obtain preventative antibiotics:

- Individuals residing in Weymouth, Portland, or Chickerell who are currently in school years 7 to 13 (or equivalent), including those not in full-time education but within this age range.

OR

- Individuals attending an educational setting in Weymouth, Portland, or Chickerell who are currently in school years 7 to 13 (or equivalent).

Fundraising for a FeNo machine!

We are raising money for a new FeNo machine for the surgery.

A FeNo machine is used to accurately diagnose patients with Asthma by assessing how inflamed the airways are. We are not fortunate enough to own one ourselves at the surgery but we are hoping to raise money to buy our own. To help us reach our target our wonderful Health Care Assistant Woody is doing a sponsored 10k run in Liverpool on the 15th of March this year.

Notice of retirement- Dr Frances Watt

I will be retiring from Poundbury Doctors Surgery on March 31st 2026.
I have been working at the surgery for the last 23 years and have been a GP partner since 2012.
I have always felt privileged to work in such a united team and I am looking forward to working in a more flexible capacity as a GP locum before full retirement.

We have been made aware that on Google our opening times are incorrect. Our correct opening times are available via our website and also listed below:

Monday 08:00 - 18:30

Tuesday 08:00 - 18:30

Wednesday 08:00 - 18:30 (closed between 13:00 - 14:00 for staff training)

Thursday 08:00 - 18:30

Friday 08:00 - 18:30

Important Update – Temporary Change

From Monday 12th January, we will be dispensing prescriptions from a temporary pharmacy container located outside the pharmacy for approximately 5 weeks, while we undergo an exciting refurbishment.

Please be assured we are not closing down, this is a temporary move to allow us to improve the pharmacy for you. All services will continue as normal during this time.

Christmas Prescription Ordering

The last day to re-order your prescriptions before the Christmas bank holiday (Christmas Day & Boxing Day) is Monday the 22nd of December for collection on Wednesday the 24th of December before 18:30.

We then re-open at 08:00 on Monday the 29th of December, that being the last day to order prescription for collection on Wednesday the 31st of December before 18:30.

We re-open from Friday the 2nd of January for our normal working hours (Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 18:30).

Walk-in Flu & Covid clinics

We are holding walk-in flu vaccination clinics on Tuesday the 28th and Thursday the 30th of October between 10:00 - 13:00. IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE YOU DO NOT NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT, just come into the surgery and speak to reception on these dates between 10:00 - 13:00. These will be flu vaccine only clinics.
