This week Janet and Marcus have been out in the garden getting it ready for winter. ❄️💐

Janet has a keen interest in gardening and thoroughly enjoys it when our wonderful gardener, Marcus, visits to help her with her projects. 🩷

This time they were planting a fantastic collection of spring bulbs as well as some cyclamen to brighten up the dreary winter days!

Thank you, Marcus, for helping create a beautiful outside environment for our residents to enjoy all year round.🌷

This week, our home came together to prepare for Remembrance 2025❤️

Residents began by crafting poppies to wear in honour of those who gave their lives in conflict.❤️
A beautiful flower arranging afternoon followed, with red and white displays symbolising remembrance and peace, now placed around the home for all to enjoy.💐
On Friday, we were joined by Lay Minister Allen for a moving Remembrance service. Together, we read the roll of honour of relatives lost in WWI and WWII, listened to “In Flanders Fields”, and sang “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”.

Tomorrow, residents will gather to watch the live service from the Cenotaph, reflecting and remembering with the nation.🫶🏻

Halloween festivities continued… 🎃👻
Our team turned the home into a beautifully spooky haven today!
We kicked things off with a Halloween quiz and a themed game of Hang-Man, followed by toasted marshmallows, creamy hot chocolate, and spooky stories.
Not many tricks, but plenty of treats! 🍫

Kicking off the Halloween magic in style 👻🕸️
Our residents got into the spirit this morning with a blood-curdling game of bingo, complete with special spooky sheets and a cauldron full of trick-or-treat prizes🍬✨

We had a wonderful time celebrating our Harvest Festival on Friday, led by the lovely team from St Mary’s Church. The home looked beautiful with autumnal flowers, leaves, and local produce, a true celebration of the season! 🌾

Everyone sang joyfully to Come Ye Thankful People, Come and We Plough the Fields and Scatter, giving thanks for the harvest and the food we share. Our stunning harvest loaf, made with care the day before, took pride of place by the altar; a perfect symbol of gratitude and community.

A huge thank you to all staff and visitors who kindly donated food items, these will be going to the Dorchester Food Bank to help those in need.❤️

In preparation for our Harvest Festival, residents joined together to create a beautiful harvest loaf 🌾

Traditionally made to celebrate the end of the harvest season, the loaf was shaped into a classic sheaf of wheat, symbolising abundance and community.

Everyone got involved! Rolling, shaping, cutting, and constructing. A wonderfully tactile activity (and quite the arm workout too 💪).

It was amazing to see so many residents showing their baking skills and sharing their tips, true experts at work! 👏

A huge thank you to Sally for leading the session and sharing her expertise with us all.❤️

More photos to come in the next post of the finished loaf at the Harvest Festival! 🍞🎉

Today, the residents joined in a lively session of bingo, one of their all-time favourite games.

With dabbers in hand, everyone focused intently on their bingo cards, eagerly awaiting the call of their lucky numbers.

Karis took the lead and made a fantastic host, effortlessly throwing around all the classic bingo lingo!

Bingo isn’t just a game, it’s a brilliant way to keep your mind sharp, your reflexes quick, and your spirits high. And when pots of Pringles are on the line, the fun reaches a whole new level!

This week, before the heavens opened, we took an impromptu trip to to enjoy the sunshine and get some fresh air.

It was a real pleasure strolling around the beautiful lakes and admiring the stunning sculptures perfectly placed around this tranquil environment🌳.

Audrey and Pat both enjoyed being outside immersed in nature and Audrey said how much it brought back memories of her childhood where she’d be out all day playing in the fields, climbing trees and swimming in the river. 🦦

Tuesdays at Glencairn are usually filled with the sounds of knitting needles and much laughter 🧶as the residents come together to work on their projects in the company of like-minded individuals.

Our Knit & Natter sessions run every other Tuesday and are open to the general public, ably supported by our wonderful volunteers Ann and Ruth 🥰

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a master knitter, there is room for everyone and plenty of support in case of any dropped stitches!

✨ Jill is making a cardigan for her granddaughter.
✨ Ruth is knitting a waistcoat for a friend.
✨ Janet, Pat and Betty are knitting squares for a blanket to be sent to a charity for overseas relief.

What a community!!💕
