🕊️ National Grief Awareness Week 🕊

National Grief Awareness Week creates a safe space for people to talk openly about grief and loss. It’s a reminder that grief is universal, challenging, and something none of us should face alone.

Let’s encourage empathy, compassion, and support for anyone navigating life after loss.

🌍❤️ World AIDS Day ❤️🌍

Today we unite to fight HIV stigma and remember lives lost. Over 105,000 people in the UK and 38 million worldwide live with HIV — and with modern treatment, they can live long, healthy lives.

But stigma still causes harm. World AIDS Day is a moment to honour resilience, highlight real experiences, and push for a future where HIV never limits anyone’s life.

💙 November is Mouth Cancer Action Month 💙
Mouth cancer is on the rise — yet awareness remains low. Here are the facts:
🦷 10,825 people in the UK were diagnosed last year.
💔 3,637 lives were lost.
🌍 Affects 650,000 people worldwide every year.
👨‍🦱 Twice as common in men, though rates in women are increasing.
👅 53% of cases appear on the tongue or tonsils.
👵 78% occur in people aged 55+.
📉 Survival rates remain low due to late detection — 5-year survival has barely improved in decades.
⚠️ 1 in 4 cases have no clear risk factors.
🚗 Mouth cancer causes more UK deaths each year than road traffic accidents, and more than cervical + testicular cancer combined.
Yet, awareness is worryingly low:
🔹 Only 20% know the signs & symptoms
🔹 Only 8% know the risk factors
👀 Check your mouth regularly and see your dentist or GP if you notice:
• Persistent mouth ulcers
• Lumps, swelling, or red/white patches
• Difficulty swallowing or unexplained pain
💙 Early detection saves lives.

💉 Protect yourself this winter — get your flu jab!
Flu can make you seriously unwell, but the vaccine is the best way to stay protected.

If you’re eligible, book your flu vaccination through your GP surgery, local pharmacy or the NHS App.
Keep yourself and your community safe this winter. 💙

💙 Carers Rights Day – Thursday 20 November 💙
This year’s theme: “Know your rights, use your rights.”
Every day, 12,000 people in the UK become unpaid carers for a partner, family member, or friend — many don’t even realise they are carers or what support they’re entitled to.
Caring can be demanding, whether it’s 24/7 or alongside work and family life. Every carer deserves to know their rights and access support designed to ease some of the pressures of caring.
Let’s make sure carers are informed, supported, and celebrated. 💛

💙 Happy International Men’s Day! 💙
Today we celebrate the positive contributions men make to their families, workplaces, and communities — while shining a light on men’s health and wellbeing.
In the UK, the themes for the day are:
🔹 Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
🔹 Raising awareness and funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
🔹 Promoting positive conversations about men, manhood, and masculinity
It’s a chance to recognise the men who inspire and support others, encourage open discussions about mental health, and challenge stereotypes.
To all the men making a difference — today we celebrate you. 🙌
