We at Grassington House are absolutely devastated by the fire that occurred on Saturday night. We are incredibly proud of our team for responding so quickly and evacuating the home ensuring all 11 residents’ were escorted to safety. Thereafter our team pulled together to salvage personal items, washing clothes, retrieving items requested by residents to ensure they had everything they needed. Our staff had no hesitation in working in other Care Homes that they were unfamiliar with to ensure continuity for our residents.
We were amazed at the response from the services and how they looked after us. They helped us safely get essentials such as medications from the building, and informed us every step of the way throughout the night, and of course worked so incredibly hard to save our beloved Home. Those of you that have seen photographs in the press will realise that this was not an easy task!
We would also like to extend our thanks to our neighbours who opened their doors to us to keep us warm out of the kindness of their hearts. We would also like to thank our neighbouring Care Home for working tirelessly with our manager to temporarily rehome our lovely residents into their two Dorchester Homes, this means that everyone will remain local.
We have been absolutely blown away by the support we have received from everyone, and apologies that we haven’t been able to respond. We are sure you will understand that the Residents, staff and their families are our main priority at this time. We have been told that everyone has been very kind on social media, we haven’t had time to go on, but we can only thank you via this post, it really feels so special to be supported by our community.
As for the Home itself, it’s looking very sad, but we’ve done it once before, so we will do it again, and with the help of our magnificent staff make it the Home that everyone loves once again!
Please share so we can let everyone know our thanks 🥰
