Traditional Acupuncture Acupuncture is a holistic healing art which promotes a return to health through the management of a person’s vital energy or “qi”.

Qi literally gives us our life and our vitality. By treating the roots of the cause of illness it aims not only to restore health, but to keep a person well and performing permanently at their peak. Scientists believe that acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system which then activates healing mechanisms, via, for instance, endorphins. Endorphins are one group of the body’s naturally occurring chemical messengers and are best known for their powerful painkilling effects, but they have other functions such as boosting the immune systems. Acupuncture needles can also “reset” sensory cells in muscles, relaxing spasms.
