Kitten Whiskers and Puppy Dog Tails 🐱 🐶
A desire to feel “useful again in the community” was the simple request for staff to grant Downham Grange Nursing Home
Rosalind Burroughs now aged 81 has never sat idle dedicating four decades of her life since the age of 15 to working in her family grocery business until she retired. 🛍️
An avid animal lover especially of cats and dogs, Rosalind along with her friend Rita Stockinger was only too glad to be able to offer her services, volunteering her time helping to socialise the rescue cats at her local West Norfolk RSPCA 😻
“Community Involvement helps keep people together”, she explains “ the RSPCA is such a good charity with the animals so well taken care of, and the cats are so friendly ” she added “ I really enjoyed the cuddling experience” 🐱
The Eau Brink Rehoming Centre located in Tilney All Saints has been operating for around 30 years, holding up to 500 animals at any one time, with their aim to make each animal’s stay as stress free as possible using them merely as a stepping stone to their next home. 🏡
With an average of 20 dogs, 12 cats as well as smaller animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs being re homed every month, they are kept very busy. 🐾
After contacting the centre about visiting and hearing that they rely heavily on donations, staff at the home were only too glad to help by collecting food as well as blankets. 🐕
“It was a lovely experience” said Regional Community Engagement Coordinator Marcia Hughes who organised the visit “ we are so glad to be able to show support to such an amazing charity” 🙏
The charity is an independent branch of the RSPCA and welcomes all donations of animal food to the centre or sell able items for their shop in Kings Lynn to help raise funds.
