CALLUM McVEIGH
The family of the late Callum McVeigh would like to express their heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to all relatives, friends, neighbours, and to everyone who sympathised, supported, and prayed with us during our recent and tragic bereavement on Christmas Eve 2025.
We are deeply grateful to all those who sent flowers, food, and cards, and to those who helped in any way. A special word of thanks to his close friends who stayed late each evening to sing, pray, and bring comfort to us during such a difficult time and I know his girlfriend Esther is very grateful for their ongoing support and prayers.
Marcus, Lisa and Ethan are extremely grateful to all those who attended Callum’s funeral and although it was not possible to extend our thanks to everyone in person (due to the large number of attendees) we are very grateful to everyone who came to Callum’s funeral which demonstrated not only how much he meant to us but that he also touched other people’s lives during his short life.
Seeing so many people who knew Callum and hearing their stories reminded us of just how special he was- not only to us, but to so many others. Your presence, your words, your praise, and your prayers brought us great comfort at this extremely difficult time.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Reverend Small and the congregation of Raffrey Presbyterian Church for their support and assistance with the funeral service, catering, parking and transport. We would also like to thank both the Reverend Small and Reverend Martin for a funeral service which reflected Callum’s love of life and encouraged others to seek Christ.
Callum was saved, and he would have deeply appreciated the message shared by the Reverend Small, urging everyone to ensure they too are saved. Callum loved the Free Presbyterian socials, and it was through their tent mission that he came to know Christ. If even one person is encouraged to come to Christ through Callum’s passing, then his death will not have been in vain. It is our sincere wish that others will come to know the Lord.
We would also like to thank everyone who helped with the catering in any way, those who supplied sandwiches and buns and helped to serve. We would like to thank all those who supplied and assisted with transport and parking. Our thanks also go to Derryboye primary school, Darragh Cross GAA and Peter Jackson for allowing parking on their premises.
Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who has contributed to Callum’s chosen charity- the BB Project in Uganda. His Aunt Samantha travelled there on a BB trip a few years ago, and Callum was fascinated by her stories. He loved wearing the Ugandan football shirt she brought back. Your generosity has raised over £4,000 so far, and we are deeply grateful.
We are very grateful to everyone who shared memories of Callum’s life on social media, especially those that spoke of his love for football and the gospel. We also appreciate all the sporting organisations that marked Callum’s passing with moments of silence or applause and for the many social media posts that were written about Callum from the football community and beyond. These messages, which reflected Callum’s love of life, brought us great comfort during this difficult time.
We extend our sincere thanks to all those involved on the day of his accident- the Air Ambulance, the Police, Health and safety, Coroner and everyone who attended the scene on Christmas Eve. Your efforts and care will never be forgotten. We are grateful for the help and professionalism of Martin from Charles Rourke & Sons (funeral directors) who helped us during this difficult time.
It is impossible to thank everyone individually, but we hope that this acknowledgement expresses, in some small way, our heartfelt appreciation and deepest gratitude for all the support we have received.
Callum was a wonderful son, taken from us suddenly and far too soon. Our family would like to thank everyone who has supported us and offered comfort during this heartbreaking time.
We never got to say goodbye or tell you once more how much you were loved, as you were gone in the blink of an eye. But you are at peace in Heaven now. We love you with all our hearts, Callum- until we meet again.
Jesus said..’’I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”..
