The Laurels Care Home offers residential and dementia care in Draycott near Cheddar.

The Laurels Residential Care Home, situated in the village of Draycott, at the foot of the Mendips Hills, provides high quality person centred care in a comfortable home-from-home rural village atmosphere. With twenty-one bedrooms, there is a comfortable home from home feel with staff available to provide care in a safe and secure setting. Residents retain their local connections and interests with regular visits from community groups and day trips. Home-cooked nutritious food provided by our cook caters to all needs and preferences.

🌟 A Winner in Our Eyes 🌟

We are so incredibly proud of Kate, our amazing Wellbeing Co-ordinator, who was nominated and shortlisted in the final three for Wellbeing Co-ordinator of the Year.

We attended our staff awards on Thursday, and while Kate sadly didn’t take home the trophy this time, she will always be a winner in our eyes. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to supporting the wellbeing of others never goes unnoticed.

Congratulations, Kate — what an achievement, and so well deserved 👏💜

We also want to give a huge congratulations to Ged, who received an Outstanding Achievement Award for an incredible 20 years of service. I’m sure everyone knows Ged for her infectious laughter, great sense of humour, and of course… her fabulous cup of tea ☕😄

Thank you both for everything you do — we are so lucky to have you! 💐✨

✈️ Plane spotting and daydreaming!
We enjoyed watching the planes land and take off, it sparked lovely chats between us all, about the countries we’ve visited and places we would like to see 🌍 On the way home we stopped for tea and cake at The Riverside Inn in Cheddar ☕

We enjoyed a lovely day out visiting our sister home, Westbury Court Care & Nursing Home, where we were warmly welcomed by their wonderful activities team. Residents enjoyed making connections with new friends and taking part in quiz, followed by a delicious two-course lunch and a glass of white wine. 🍽️

What do you do when it’s cold and wet outside? We bake cakes!
Our Baking Club kicked off this morning with 12 delicious Lotus-flavoured cupcakes. We gathered our ingredients, cracked some eggs and got mixing, all while enjoying a proper cuppa. While the cakes were baking, we stayed cosy by flicking through some knitting magazines and choosing patterns for warm winter scarves.

Today we braved the cold, wrapped up warm, and enjoyed some fresh air before stopping by our local garden centre for a cosy latte ☕❄️
And of course… no visit is complete without a slice of cake 🍰

Here’s a 2025 Flashback 💜

2025 has been a truly special year at The Laurels, filled with meaningful moments, shared laughter and a strong sense of togetherness. From unforgettable Make-A-Wish experiences at Ashton Gate to fun days out ice skating, every moment has helped create lasting memories for our residents, families and team.

We’ve loved welcoming everyone to our Family Fun Day and celebrating a wonderful Big Family Christmas. Along the way, we’ve marked birthdays, enjoyed Wimbledon together, and most importantly, celebrated one another and the connections that make our home so special.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our families and our local community for your continued support 💜
Most of all, thank you to our amazing staff for your commitment, care and compassion, which make The Laurels such a warm, supportive and happy place to call home.
