East Riding Crematorium

East Riding Crematorium East Riding Crematorium, otherwise known as Octon Crematorium, opened in May 1997 by Tony Warburton. We are more than a place of farewell.

We are a sanctuary of stillness,
where love is remembered and lives are honoured with grace.

Crematorium Etiquette
We understand that funerals are a very difficult time for families. Due to the nature of our work, we support many families throughout the day along with the amazing Funeral Directors and officiations so with your help we can continue to provide the care and respect each service deserves.
We kindly ask all visitors to be mindful of crematorium etiquette. While we appreciate that funerals can be an opportunity to reconnect with family members and old friends, please remember that at the same time, another family may be saying a very emotional goodbye in the chapel. We have signs placed out to keep a respectful environment, and we simply ask that you keep noise to a minimum and remain considerate of others.
As many people travel by car due to our location, especially for well-attended services, we ask that you park safely and thoughtfully. Please be mindful that others will also need space, and use the designated overflow car park where necessary. We kindly ask that you do not park on the scatter lawns at the front, which are clearly marked with signage.
Additionally, please avoid using your car horn when arriving or leaving, as another service may be taking place in the chapel.
We offer extended chapel time to help families avoid feeling rushed and to ensure that each goodbye can take place with dignity. This also allows time, should you wish, to greet attendees after the service, speak to your funeral director when arranging for more information.

We're a pet friendly crematorium and love to see your furry friends, but again we are a place where families have chosen for their loved ones memorials, whether its a grave plot or laying to rest on our scatter lawns, please keep pets on leads when around the grounds and always clean up any mess.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation

The Tree Trunk Vault is crafted from yellow granite with hand-carved bark detailing and a black granite inscription plaque. Suitable for two sets of ashes, it offers a thoughtful and lasting tribute for those seeking something that complements the beauty of the landscape.

Helen, who led our Christmas Memorial Service last year, recently shared a post about a service held here. It's always a pleasure working with her, and we truly appreciate the hard work and dedication she puts into every service she leads.

Today I have the privilege of supporting a family by delivering the life story of a wonderful lady during her funeral service 🩶

Working alongside the minister from their local church, we have created a service that honours her faith while also reflecting the unique and personal story of her life, the people she loved, the memories she made and the legacy she leaves behind.

It is always a privilege to stand with families at such an important moment, helping to tell the story of someone who meant so much to so many.

If you would like a funeral service that truly reflects the life and personality of someone special to you, whilst honouring their faith and religious beliefs, you can find out more about my work as an independent celebrant at

This week at the Crematorium ask to speak with Katy Kirby our Memorial Consultant.

There are some fantastic offers on memorial packages, and also discounted products that we have available.

We truly have something to suit all budgets and would love to have a conversation with you here at the crematorium hospitality suite, or over the phone.

We can call you at a time convenient to go through any questions you may have regarding choosing that precious memorial for your loved one.
Remember it’s not something that has to remain on our grounds, we offer treasured keepsake items as well.

Memorial accompaniments offer a thoughtful way to add a personal touch to memorial gardens 🌹

Each accompaniment can be personalised with names, meaningful words, or even small illustrations, allowing families to reflect the character, interests or memories they wish to honour.

Placed within the calm and natural surroundings of our grounds, these markers become a lasting part of the landscape, offering a quiet place for reflection and remembrance.

If you would like to find out more about the memorial options available, our team would be happy to help guide you through the choices 🤍
