This little miniature panther is Merlin. He is the “king of chilling”. Whether it is in most awkward positions half on and off, in the bird bath, toy box, or in the raised herb bed high on cat nip.
But there is one thing he is very keen on and will even ask for it. Every morning when seeing me for the first time he throws himself onto his side right in front of my feet and demands a back rub. I don’t know how long ago I gave him his first back massage but he definitely now thinks it as his cat given right to receive one every morning 😹😹.

Being somebody who finds it hard to relax myself, I have worked on creating an environment that I hope clients who also find it hard to relax would like to walk into in order to achieve maximum relaxation.
I believe the environment is as important as the massage itself in order to get the most out of your time with the threapist and your money.

Relaxation, why it is so important?

In times of stress our sympathetic nervous system is putting our body in the " fight or flight mode" and the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible to bring our body back into a relaxed state of being. When we are experiencing a constant onslaught of stress the parasympathetic nervous system can struggle to put the body back at ease.
A lot of activities can facilitate the parasympathetic nervous system to achieve that:
Exercise, meditation, yoga, deep breathing, walking in nature,
a nice long bath whilst reading a book or listening to calming music, or booking yourself in for a treatment like a massage. It might even be advisable to stay away from watching or reading anything upsetting or too exiting like the news or watching or reading horror movies / books. Instead, opt for a comedy or a romance. Avoid, if at all possible, anything that can put our body into a state of stress.
Having a chronic illness that includes, my body being stuck in the "fight and flight mode" I knew how important a calming environment was to help with relaxation. To give the client the best possible chance to be able to and to experience a state of deep relaxation and therefore facilitating the process for your para-sympathetic nervous system to do it's job, I created this environment in my therapy room.

Some people miss out on the benefits of receiving a massage because they feel not comfortable with the idea off having to take items of clothing off or a full body massage seems daunting.
If you are feeling this way but would like to experience the relaxing benefits of a treatment then the following options might be for you:

1) Reiki (a form of energy healing)
2) Indian Head Massage
3) Reflexology

For all the above treatments you can stay fully dressed, only the socks would need to come off for Reflexology.

If however you always wanted a full body massage but are unsure about maintaining your dignity, please be reassured that you will be in a safe and non judgmental environment.

When I first started out in January 2020 I wanted to create a space my clients could relax in, feeling safe and supported. A space I would like to spend time in myself when I feel stressed or in need of comfort. I come to realise that only amongst the trees in a forest do I truly find the deep inner peace that I require to heal my soul. The sea side is nice but it can not touch me as deeply as being in a forest. I feel as if I am amongst my closest friends who love me for who I am. A feeling of connection, belonging and pure love. My dream would be to live in a forest near a big lake.
