Hello my name is Richard Birkett, I am a local Personal Trainer who has achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. This achievement has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages, abilities and fitness levels all achieving fantastic results. Helping others is my biggest passion and seeing the effectiveness of my safe, fun and friendly approach to Health, Fitness and Well-being has kept me going strong. A little late for the Halloween 🎃 theme but we all wanted to get a little Biceps 💪 pump on with some Spider 🕷️ curls.

Squat numbers 170, 180 (PB) and 185kg (PB)
Bench numbers 120, 127.5 and 132.5kg (PB)
Deadlift numbers 225, 240 (PB) and 260kg (PB)

Well we done it and survived, not 1 but 2 Gold🥇🥇 🎉 😊

After losing 5kg in a week to make the weight for my weight category, feeling extremely dehydrated, hungry and having a very sore knee that came out of nowhere 2 days before the comp I wasn’t feeling very confident 😞

🙌 Over the moon with 5 competition PB’s
🥇 Won my master category and deadlift category
🏋️‍♀️ Started with Squats finishing on 185kg (I hate squats 🤣)
💪 2nd was Bench press finished on 132.5kg
☠️ Deadlift last with a cheeky 260kg (2nd heaviest in the flight 😃)
⚪️ All lifts completed with no failures or Red lights

After qualifying for the National Power Games last year we have now qualified for the British 🇬🇧 Powerlifting Games next year by winning 🏆 my Masters category and also hitting the British qualification total of over 557.5kg (squat, bench and deadlift total combined).

I will now be competing alongside

What fantastic day and experience at The FitXPO at the NEC Birmingham and another brilliant 🤩 competition from great organisation and support for the competitors.

Massive shoutout to for been my coach for the day keeping me calm and focused ✊

Thanks for my support team who came you all played a huge roll in one of my biggest achievements of my life.

Now time to start planning the next phase of my training, I know the weaknesses I can improve on so back to the gym tomorrow 🏋️‍♀️

📢 Shout out to very proud on how much she has improved, increased her strength 💪 and gained more confidence (not been as scared to lift the heavier weights and push the limits) 👏

Ri (Riona) has been working with us for a number of months with fantastic improvements.

Initially we were just focusing on balancing her body out.

But with lower back, knee and a shoulder issue we have managed to work around everything through a specifically structured plan of action with short terms GOALS gradually progressing each week to now more or less eliminate most of her pain and fear of hurting / injuring herself.

Ri has tremendous grip strength which has helped us with her deadlifts, hanging and carries and now we are pushing on with her upper body strength aiming for some chin ups before Christmas 🎄🤞

We have been working on creating a solid foundation and nailing the technique then gradually increasing the reps and weight and monitoring her recovery to keep progressive overloading.

Keep up the great work and look forward to smashing more goals 💥

Massive shout out to unbelievable transformation (the right way).

Kate has now lost over 5 stone over the last 12 months while still maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

With the combination of cutting out a few of those extra treats a week therefore cutting down her overall weekly calories, weight training with myself 3x per week and adding in a couple of cardio / boxing sessions the weight she has managed to lose around 1 pound consistently over the past 12 months + 👏

Very proud 😊

She did lose some strength which wasn’t surprising however we down are nearly back to where we were and Kate has even managed 8 chin ups and 5 pull ups soon to be 10 by Christmas 🎄 🤞

Final squats completed ☑️

Yeah definitely my least favourite exercise of the 3 Powerlifting disciplines.

Would be happy with a 180-190kg squat next Saturday🤞

Press Press Press with

Want stronger shoulders then lift some heavy weights above your head.

Keep it simple and no Isolation exercises do not make your shoulders stronger.

Compound and Isometric exercises only = STRENGTH

Build the shoulder muscles up first with compound exercises then you can shape them with isolation exercise.
