🌟 Great Work in Belper Primary Care Network! 🌟

We’re proud to share the fantastic work being done within the Belper Primary Care Network as we held our first Diabetic Group Consultation this week! 👏

This new approach brings patients together in a supportive group setting to learn more about managing their diabetes, share experiences, and receive guidance from our dedicated healthcare team. đź’™

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this first session such a success — it’s inspiring to see patients working together towards better health and wellbeing.

.

Yesterday marked the exciting launch of our very first Diabetic Group Consultation! The feedback from patients was truly inspiring, and our team had a fantastic time embracing this innovative approach to care. Huge thanks to Vicky, Robyn, and Sally for making it happen. Stay tuned for more details on how you can join our diabetic group sessions. Plus, we're thrilled to announce that starting in January, we'll be expanding our group consultations to include menopause and HRT support — bringing compassionate care to more in our community!

Carers Rights Day is about raising awareness of the rights the UK’s 5.8 million unpaid carers are entitled to, and to help them get the support they need and the recognition they deserve.

We want all carers to feel empowered to use their rights. What have you got planned for Carers Rights Day to help spread the word and raise awareness?

Find out more about how you can get involved here: https://www.carersuk.org/news-and-campaigns/our-campaigns/carers-rights-day/getting-involved-this-carers-rights-day/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign&utm_content=ap_yyzbiz1ogj

It’s the small things that can make a difference — learn how to support someone living with dementia🩵

It’s the little things that can make a big difference 💙

Our Dementia Friends programme is an awareness raising initiative aimed at increasing everyone’s understanding of dementia and inspiring them to make little changes in their everyday lives that make a difference for people affected by dementia.

Here are a few little things you can do to show up for people living with dementia:

- Be patient, don’t rush people
- Popping out? Ask a neighbour if they need any shopping
- Take someone’s bins out / help around the home / garden
- Help someone who looks lost out and about
- Wear your Dementia Friends badge to raise awareness
- Phone a friend or loved one who might benefit from a chat
- Pop a card in the post to let someone know you’re thinking of them
- Make time to play someone’s favourite game
- Change patterned tablecloths for plain ones
- Change dark doormats for lighter ones

Which ones have you done this week?

The graphic depicts a white checklist split into two halves, side by side, with bulletpointed tips, which read in the following order from top to bottom: Be patient, don’t rush people; Popping out? Ask a neighbour if they need any shopping; Help someone who looks lost out and about; Phone a friend or loved one who might benefit from a chat; Wear your Dementia Friends badge to raise awareness; Make time to play someone’s favourite game; Change patterned tablecloths for plain ones; Change dark doormats for lighter ones; Pop a card in the post to let someone know you’re thinking of them; and Take someone’s bins out or help around the home & garden.]

As part of our commitment to the health and wellness of our community, Appletree Medical Practice has linked with Markeaton Park and Shipley Park and is now officially a parkrun practice. The parkrun practice initiative is a collaboration between the Royal College of General Practitioners and parkrun UK, designed to encourage practices across the UK to develop close links with their local parkrun.

Parkruns are social physical activity events which are held every Saturday morning. People can walk, run, volunteer or come along and watch. Taking part in parkrun is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to be active, with others, in the open air. By linking with the local Parkruns, we want to inspire as many people as possible to lead healthy lifestyles, including practice staff.

🌟 New course starting soon 🌟

We're hosting a FREE acredited volunteer training course at the Alder Road centre in the autumn - as we continue to develop and host community activities from the centre we're looking to invest in and increase our volunteers, but this course is also available to anyone who volunteers anywhere in Belper (or indeed Derbyshire!) so please do share with others who may be interested. Booking required.
