Springtime is bringing a new yoga class and a new instructor to Core - we are really excited to introduce Sonny of Realm Yoga who will be running her lovely Flow & Chill on the first Sunday of every month 10-11.15am, starting on 3rd May, and also from 2nd of June weekly on Tuesdays 5.15-6.15pm. Book in directly with Sonny here: https://bookwhen.com/realm-yoga-with-sonny

Sonny is originally from California and has lived in Scotland for nearly nine years, moving to Dunbar in early 2026. She completed her 200-hour YTT in 2018 and a 100-hour Yin & Restorative YTT earlier this year.

Sonny is a warm and upbeat teacher who is passionate about helping her students feel welcome in the space and at home in their bodies. She prioritises the seamless integration of breath and movement, supporting students to feel both the strength and softness within their practice.

She teaches at Tribe Yoga and David Lloyd Newhaven in Edinburgh, as well as Move in North Berwick. Outside of teaching, Sonny works at a social enterprise in Portobello called Tribe Porty and contributes to academic research following the completion of her PhD. In her free time, she enjoys dog walks, cold water dips, long meandering hikes, and a good cup of coffee.

About the class: Flow & Chill is a vinyasa-based practice available to practitioners of all levels.

This class focuses on the seamless integration of breath and movement, encouraging students to drop into their body and the present moment. Each practice begins slowly with a guided meditation and breathwork, moving into a steady flow to build a bit of heat and get things moving, with plenty of options for students to take things at their own pace.

From there, we’ll gradually slow it down, easing into more grounded, relaxed shapes. We’ll finish with some proper rest, giving everyone time to switch off and let the practice resonate within the body.

Tanya has recently joined our team at Core - some of you will already have met her and she’s been getting great feedback from her lovely clients. She is at Core on Thursday and Sunday mornings for massage and Spanish facial massage appointments (heads up there are still two slots available for this Thursday 10am & 11am) 😄 Here’s what she has to tell you about herself:
My name is Tanya, I’m originally from Ukraine.
I’m a professional massage practitioner with almost 20 years of experience. I first began practising massage while studying at medical college. I later gained a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Rehabilitation and spent many years working as a physio. Then I discovered Spanish facial chiro-massage and trained in Barcelona under one of the field’s leading practitioner. Now based in Scotland I’m delighted to be back in practice and sharing the techniques and methods I’ve developed over the years.

Yesterday I was in London supporting my daughter at Rosslyn Sevens rugby tournament (thanks for taking care of my classes all day!!) and in the school tent they had a few games of reaction speeds and strength to entertain the crowds including this grip strength measure - I got 73.4kg, turns out I am strong! 💪 Nice to get an objective measurement of that!! The girls didn’t get through to day 2 but it was a great day anyway.

It’s been a busy month so far and I’ve not posted much but will get back on the info posts soon. Last Sunday I did a 10 mile cross-country run with a lot of mud and rain and about 100 stiles & gates! It was hard but mostly I think mentally! It gave me a chance to spend a bit of time with my daughter (even though she ran faster than I did) and I didn’t even come last (99th out of 102)! I was not sore the next day so I think the Pilates and yoga make a big difference.
