A message from Dr Stewart following his recent retirement
“Its two weeks now since I packed up my little black bag and left Monifieth Heath centre for the last time – as a working member of the team. It was almost 30 years since my first day in August back in 1996 so it was a big day which my many lovely colleagues helped me get through in the best possible way.
This small post is a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has added their kind comments to the announcement on this page of my departure from the practice – I have read every one and I cannot tell you how much I have appreciated them; it’s been a very emotional journey and brought back so many memories of every kind.
It’s been an honour and a privilege to work in the community of Monifieth for almost all my career as a GP and to share in the highs and lows, ups and downs that we have shared together over the years. We’ve seen more changes than we could have imagined back in the early days but one thing remained unique is the special relationship between GP and patient, that grows over time and through shared understanding of family, illness, health, and even events in the wider world. Long may it continue.
It’s been a tremendous journey, and I’ve been so fortunate to share it with you. Thank you so much for your trust, shared experiences and companionship along the way. Still setting into life in retirement, however I will be around and about in civilian mode helping out at the Monifieth Befrienders Spring Fete on May 16th so I may see you there? – there will also be the opportunity to chance your teeth on some of my baking!”
