❄️Winter Gathering 2025 ❄️

Every year our team look forward to welcoming our community in for our end of year party - the Winter Gathering.

We played, told stories, crafted, learned and shared food with friends. A wonderful time celebrating the people at the heart of all we do here at ScrapAntics.

Special thanks to Shamshad and Aveen for providing our STEM activities, for providing crafts, for bringing hair tinsel and glitter to get us party ready, for providing some tasty food, for doing beautiful henna artworks on us and most importantly - to everyone who attended! 🌟

Call us keen but we already have our next Winter Gathering pencilled in the diary for this year. Hope to see you all there! 👀❄️

Thank you to everyone who…

got creative, learned something new, came to play, volunteered, worked late, started early, led a workshop, made a cup of tea, nibbled a biscuit (and sometimes put it back), built the longest marble run, opened the shop, attended a meeting, moved a mannequin, did the dishes, listened to a woe, told an uplifting story, dried an eye, became a friend… or even carried a watermelon!

Every single part you played in ScrapAntics’ weird and wonderful journey of 2025 was noticed - no matter how big or small. We saw you, and we appreciate your part… especially the small things, because they all add up to the big thing.
And the big thing is this: ScrapAntics - the amazing and wonderful world of ScrapAntics.

2026 is going to be even bigger and brighter. If you know about us but haven’t visited yet, come and see us in the new year!

🔻Women's Wednesday is back on Tuesday 13th January from 10am to 12pm

🫟ScrapStore is back from 11am on Wednesday 14th of January with a swap shop event!
Get involved, sew a stitch, play a game, volunteer, read to someone, bind a book… who knows what you’ll learn.

The new year is a chance to begin a new chapter in your creative practice. Art Antics Community Art Studios could be the perfect place to get started.

We currently have three studio spaces available to rent.
Our studios are called community spaces because they offer more than just a place to work. We have large shared areas where we host collective exhibitions and events, creating a supportive environment where artists can co-create, share ideas, offer feedback, and support one another.

Here is the third and final film from our creative evaluation project with the National Literacy Trust!

This heartwarming film features families from the Flourish Group at Dundee International Women’s Centre. It was created by local filmmaker Sarah Smart during a series of workshops facilitated by Caroisma.

Many thanks to all the artists, organisations and families involved in making this gorgeous film, which really highlights the important impacts of the Talk and Play Together programme.

Talk and Play Together is an early years programme from the National Literacy Trust, supported by the University of Dundee. Families with children not yet in nursery take part in six weekly sessions to help build confidence in literacy and promote family wellbeing. Each week focuses on a different tip to promote language development, together with a weekly book and play resources to encourage learning at home.

🎄Winter Gathering🎄

It's nearly time for our annual winter gathering! Join us in our Community Hub (Level 2, Wellgate Shopping Centre) for arts, play and food to celebrate all we've achieved this year.

The event is free and open to all to attend. We hope to see as many of you there as possible as we wrap up for 2025 and get ready to welcome 2026!

Our women's only sessions on Wednesday mornings are a safe space for women across Dundee to connect, try new things and build friendships. This week we're cooking! Join us to learn some new recipes and try some tasty treats.

🎄ScrapThursday: Christmas Craftivism 🎄

Using recycled, rescued and natural materials we'll create festive wreaths, decorations and cards. No experience or materials required - Caroline is here to guide you and help you explore the symbolism in your designs.

What's Scrapening This Week? 👀

Women's Wednesday is open to any woman in Dundee who'd like to meet new people, develop skills and try new things. Feel free to pop in or give us a message if you'd like more information.

At ScrapThursday this week we'll be recognising Christmas Jumper Day! Wear your favourite Christmas jumper or bring a jumper you'd like to transform into your new favourite Christmas Jumper. Our team will support you as you upcycle and redecorate your jumper for the festive season. We'll also be making mini Christmas Jumper decorations. 🎄🎅

As part of Adult Learning Week, ScrapAntics is hosting an Open Day on Monday 1st December to showcase the classes and sessions we offer to adults across Dundee.

This year marks 50 years of the Alexander Report, which brought youth work and adult education together under a single concept of community education, later community learning and development.

The session will be led by Louise Buchan from ScrapAntics and Steph Dolan from the Roundhouse in Whitfield, supported by members of the Change & Grow Project, which has been running over the past three months. Work and testimonials highlighting the success of the project will be on display.

Lynne Short, depute convener of Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood, housing and communities committee said: “Adult Learners’ Week is a great opportunity to showcase what is on offer, to connect with people across Dundee and inspire them to take up learning for education and skills.

Louise will also lead a relaxed paper-based craft activity while chatting through some of the sessions we have available, including Women’s Wednesday, FORM, Re/Shape, and Change & Grow.

👀 What's Scrapening 👀

This week we have a big sustainable clothing event - SHOESDAY NIGHT! Help us divert brand new and preloved shoes and clothes from landfill and fundraise for social justice projects across our communities. Come along, find a bargain and support great causes. Find us in the ScrapAntics Community Hub (Level 2 in the Wellgate Shopping Centre) between 4pm-7pm.

Otherwise this week we have our weekly group sessions - Women's Wednesday and ScrapThursday. ☕️

🌟 Dundee Social Enterprise of the Year 🌟

This week we were awarded Dundee Social Enterprise of the Year at the awards!

ScrapAntics has always (and will always) be about our community and we're so excited to celebrate with everyone at our Winter Gathering on Sunday 14th December from 12pm to 3pm in our Community Hub in the Wellgate Shopping Centre. A chance to play, create and connect with folks whilst celebrating all we have achieved together this year. Free to all and all welcome.
