📢 Important information for people on the Sandyford Adult Service waiting list.

Sandyford have informed us they will starting their adult waiting list validation exercise today. They will be contacting everyone on the adult waiting list over the next few weeks to check their details are correct and ask if they wish to remain on the waiting list. You need to respond within 14 days of receiving this questionnaire. They have already done this for the young people's service.

You can find out more information about this here: https://www.scottishtrans.org/sandyford-validation-exercise/

We understand that many people will be worried about this, especially those who have already been waiting several years for an appointment at Sandyford with no clear indication of when they will be seen. Please keep in mind that if you believe that your contact details are up to date, then you do not need to do anything until you are contacted, and to wait until June 1st to contact Sandyford if they haven’t got in touch with you.

If you need additional support to respond, you can contact Sandyford who can advise you on available options.

If English is not your first language and you need support to respond, you can visit: www.sandyford.scot/other-languages/

We will do our best to keep you updated if Sandyford make any more information available, but please let us know if you have any issues with the validation or require further information and we will pass this along to Sandyford.

It is really important that as many people as possible get this information so that nobody gets missed out, so please share this as widely as you can.

Young Carers Action Day 2026 💛💚💜

A big thank you to Dundee Carers Centre for inviting our team along to deliver a workshop as part of last week’s Young Carers Action Day events
We always value the opportunity to meet young carers from across the city and to be part of such a positive and uplifting day filled with fun and celebration.

This year, our workshop focused on self-care—something that’s so important for maintaining health and wellbeing, especially for young people balancing education, friendships, and their caring responsibilities.

Self-care can often be overlooked, but it matters. Taking time to rest, recharge, and look after yourself is not a luxury—it’s essential.

A special shout out to LUSH Dundee for their generous donation of products—thanks to them, every young person who took part in the workshop was able to take home a lovely self-care gift to enjoy.🛁🧘‍♀️☺️

Thank you again to everyone who took part🤩

Last week marked Young Carers Action Day 2026 💛💚💜

This year’s theme, Fair Futures for Young Carers, shines a light on something that truly matters—every young carer deserves equal access to opportunities, support, and the chance to reach their full potential.

Being a young carer shouldn’t mean missing out. It’s about making sure young people are supported to grow, thrive, and move forward into a bright future⭐
Our Corner window this month is dedicated to Young Carers Action Day and this year’s theme, Fair Futures for Young Carers

A huge thank you to the young carers who helped bring our display to life by designing and colouring their own butterflies. Each one has been added to our collage, creating something truly special. 🦋
The butterfly is a powerful symbol for young carers—representing the diversity of their experiences and the many different caring roles they take on every day.
If you are a young carer, we would love to hear from you. How does your caring role shape the way you think about your future?

Scan the QR code to take part in our short questionnaire—your voice will help us better understand your experiences and shape the support we provide. Your feedback will also be shared with the city’s Young Carers subgroup to help make a difference.

For more information around our Young Carers Service and the different forms of support we provide for Young Carers. Please get in touch with us here at The Corner.

Health and social care services in Dundee are under pressure, and the Dundee Integration Joint Board (IJB) needs to make decisions about how money is spent next year.

The IJB plans and oversees adult community health and social care services in the city - this includes The Corner. Demand for support is rising, and the IJB has already saved over £58 million since 2016. For 2026/27, it expects to reduce spending by a further £12.6 million.

Some savings can come from improving how services run — but some options may mean changing or reducing services.

The consultation is anonymous and voluntary. It gives young people, carers, staff, partners, and anyone who uses services the chance to say how the proposals might affect them.

Have your say in the survey and share what matters to you - https://shorturl.at/1sU3y

Young Carers – Decider Skills Groupwork
A special shout out to some of our fantastic young carers from Baldragon Academy! 🌟
Throughout this term, these young people have taken part in after-school sessions focused on learning Decider Skills – practical strategies to help manage emotions, cope with challenges, and build resilience. Each week, they created and added items to their own Wellbeing Toolboxes, which they can take home and use as reminders of the skills they’ve learned.
To celebrate everyone’s hard work, we enjoyed a trip to The Escape Rooms this week. It was great fun and a perfect opportunity to put some of those Decider Skills into practice… especially when cracking the codes became a little frustrating!
A big thank you to Ross from Dundee Carers Centre and Nicky, schools Pupil Support Worker.
for their support in delivering the sessions. The biggest thanks of all goes to the young people involved for giving up their time each week – we know how challenging this can be when balancing a caring role.
This programme is fully funded through the Dundee Young Carers Subgroup, and we’re looking forward to delivering our Young Carers Decider Skills groupwork across more schools over the coming year.
