My Happy Place
In Louisiana, when the winter breaks,
And the air hums low with a brass band’s cry,
Beads rain down like blessings from heaven,
And the streets remember how to fly.
Purple dreams and green-gold laughter,
Drums beat stories older than time,
Every corner sings of freedom,
Every step feels yours and mine.
King cake crumbs and powdered smiles,
Second lines that heal the soul,
Strangers feel like long-lost family,
When the music starts, you’re whole.
This is my season, my heartbeat,
My refuge when the world feels loud,
Where joy is worn without apology,
And happiness stands tall and proud.
Louisiana, you hold my spirit,
In your rhythm, colour, and flame,
Mardi Gras—my sacred happy place,
Where I remember who I am.

January 6th, The 13thday of Christmas “Twelfth Night” aka “Feast of the “Epiphany” and “Kings Day”. Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, but the season actually begins on King's Day (12th Night), January 6, and extends until midnight before Ash Wednesday. History of Twelfth Night in Louisiana We all love king cake.

The History of King Cake 👑🍰
King Cake is a traditional pastry most closely associated with Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana, but its roots go much deeper—back to medieval Europe.

Origins in Europe
• King Cake traces back to Epiphany (January 6), also known as Twelfth Night, which commemorates the visit of the Three Kings (Magi) to the baby Jesus.
• In France and Spain, celebratory cakes were baked with a hidden bean or coin. Whoever found it was “king for the day.”

Arrival in Louisiana
• French settlers brought the tradition to New Orleans in the 18th century.
• Over time, the cake evolved into the oval or ring-shaped pastry we recognize today, symbolizing unity and the circular route taken by the kings.

The Baby Inside
• Instead of a bean, modern King Cakes contain a small plastic baby, representing Jesus.
• Tradition says whoever finds the baby must host or buy the next King Cake—keeping the celebration going throughout the season.

Colors & Meaning
The iconic Mardi Gras colors each carry symbolism:
• Purple – Justice
• Green – Faith
• Gold – Power

Modern Variations
• Originally a simple brioche with cinnamon and sugar, today’s King Cakes come filled with cream cheese, praline, strawberry, chocolate, and more.
• While Louisiana remains the heart of the tradition, King Cakes are now enjoyed across the U.S. during Carnival season (from Epiphany through Mardi Gras).

It’s more than a dessert—it’s a centerpiece of community, tradition, and celebration.

As someone that doesnt celebrate new year make goals or resolutions cause for myself Mardi Gras comes first.
Sometimes we lose parts of ourselves trying to live up to societal pressures but mine have never really changed.
But this year I have a few things that I want to do differently.
One of the main things after being so unwell last year is a life list.

If you was to do a life list what would you put top list ? ?

✨ Welcome 2026 from Native Spirit Tribe ✨
As we step into 2026, we want to take a moment to thank every single one of you — our loyal supporters and those just discovering us — for being part of the Native Spirit Tribe journey.
This year, we’re expanding with intention. Alongside our crystal jewellery, you’ll see more fashion and art flowing into the tribe — pieces that tell stories, honour self-expression, and celebrate individuality. But at the heart of everything we do remains the same purpose: community.
2026 is about building connections, supporting one another, and keeping old traditions alive — the kind that bring people together, spark conversation, and remind us we’re never walking alone. Whether you come to us for healing, beauty, creativity, or belonging, you have a place here.
Thank you for growing with us, believing in small soulful businesses, and helping Native Spirit Tribe become more than jewellery — a shared spirit.
Here’s to a year of creativity, connection, and collective strength 🤍
Welcome to 2026.

Happy winter solstice 2025 everyone.
