We’re proud to announce that Spex Direct Opticians are now sponsoring the Dunfermline Foodbank 🙌
We now have a collection and donation point in practice, so if you’re visiting us and would like to help, you can drop off an item or two from their current wish list.
Items needed include:
🥫 Tinned meat or fish
🥔 Tinned potatoes or vegetables
🍚 Tinned custard, rice or fruit
🍝 Tinned macaroni or spaghetti
🫙 Cooking sauces (jars)
☕ Coffee
🍓 Jam or marmalade
🧃 Carton fruit juice or diluting juice
🧼 Small packets of washing pods
🍅 Tomato sauce or brown sauce

Please note our festive closure dates:

📅 Closing: 5:30pm on Tuesday 23rd December
📅 Reopening: 9:00am on Tuesday 6th January

If you need to book for a Free NHS Eye Examination or collect glasses or contact lenses before the break, please call us on 01383 623619 as soon as possible.

If you experience any urgent eye concerns that can’t wait until we reopen, please contact another optometry practice or call NHS 24 on 111 for further advice.

❗️CUSTOMER NOTICE❗️

Please be aware if you are visiting the practice on FRIDAY 17TH OCTOBER or SATURDAY 18TH OCTOBER that the road at Elgin Street (between the Army Barricks and Insdustrial Estate) will be closed to all traffic.

There is alternative routes via the Grange Road from Rosyth to the industrial estate.

Access for pedestrians is still available down Elgin Street.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused to our paitents. We have had no notice or warnings of plans to close the road.

The signs so say closed for 1 day however the information online states until closed from Friday at 9am until Sunday at 6am.

We will contact all paitents booked in for appointments to make them aware.

☀️ HOW IMPORTANT AT SUNGLASSES?☀️

Sunglasses are often seen as a nice summer accessory but they are far more valuable than this.

They protect your eyes from harmful UV rays from the Sun. By protecting your eyes from UV you can help decrease the risk of developing eye diseases such as Cataracts and Macular Degeneration.

Sunglasses also help prevent eye strain and headaches as they stop you from squinting in the bright sunlight.

POLARISED VS. TINTED

Polarised lenses have a special filter thet helps to block out glare caused by light reflecting off of surfaces such as roads and water.

Non-polarised rely on sunglasses tint to block light.

They both offer the same amount of protection to UV.

Polarised is great for a variety of activities such as Driving, Fishing, Beach or Water Activities, Cycling and Running.
