A big hello to all my new followers, and a special shout out to all of you whoโ€™ve been with me from the start. I appreciate you all. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฅฐ

As the new school term approaches, I just want to give you an outline of the child-focused, holistic, trauma-informed services that I provide both privately & within education, social & community sessions.

For those of who who know little about me, Iโ€™m Nuala Groogan, a previous Primary School teacher & Principal with over 30 years teaching experience. ๐Ÿ™ˆ Gosh! That makes me sound old! But Iโ€™m 25 in my mind! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿฝ

Having studied to Masterโ€™s Diploma level, I am an Accredited Specialist Teacher supporting children & young people with specific literacy difficulties eg Dyslexia. ๐Ÿ“• ๐Ÿง  I can provide private 1-2-1 literacy tuition, especially important for the children who are struggling to retain & recall critical literacy information for reading & writing.

Iโ€™m a Relax Kids, Baby Mindful & Charge Up Coach, offering sessions & workshops to children and young people from birth! I facilitate bespoke sessions in playgroups, nurseries, primary & post primary schools during the day, and to sports clubs, community groups when possible. These emotional well-being sessions are fun and explore skills & strategies to build emotional resilience and regulation. The children absolutely love it! ๐Ÿ’œ โญ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’™

As an Advanced Drawing & Talking Practitioner I can provide sessions to private pupils & pupils in school. Drawing and Talking Therapy is the number one alternative to CBT and direct talking therapies, that can often be confronting or limiting in the processing of pain or trauma. As an attachment-based therapeutic intervention, Drawing and Talking Therapy is designed to complement CAMHS and other specialist therapies. Drawing and Talking allows individuals to discover and communicate emotions through a non-directed technique, setting it apart from existing solution-focused and cognitive-based therapies and interventions. Individual, small group or whole class sessions are now available. ๐Ÿฆ‹

We live in such a cortisol culture that we are desensitised to how much stress we are holding in our bodies, our thoughts, our relationships and our present-moment experience. There is often a tangible stress and urgency that is part of the fabric weaved into family life. Stress is the unwelcome visitor in your home. Parents get their kids up for school in the morning and itโ€™s all go, go, go. Hurry everything and everyone along, everyoneโ€™s cortisol levels on the spike, everyoneโ€™s nervous system up-regulated. Being hectic is often a socially acceptable form of anxiety, just as being super busy and productive is commonly a sign of overwhelm. Slowing down and creating wee moments of stillness in the morning can make all the difference in the world. Keep the screens and radios out of the morning routine: no news, no cartoons, no social media. Keeping sugary cereals out of the morning routine would also help a lot. Even though you have a ton of things to do with a tight timeline, look for the moments where you can breatheโ€ฆyou can always slow your breath, stand in stillness and lovingly gaze at your kid. Take them in and let them feel your love. A bit of nervous-system repair to set everyone up well for the day doesnโ€™t take much to create. Your kids will thank you and theyโ€™ll feel so much better heading off to school. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
