Overcoming Resistance To Home Care Support: A Guide For Families πŸ’™

As our loved ones age, they often face new challenges such as gradual changes in health, mobility, and cognitive function. These changes can often make everyday tasks more challenging, which often sparks conversations about extra support, such as home care.

Conversations about home care can be delicate and resistance to it is common. Acknowledging the need for support can have an emotional and psychological effect. Resistance to care is deeply tied to identity, independence and trust.

As a trusted home care provider in the North East, Dale Care fully understands the reasons additional support can cause resistance.

Whether you're loved one is adjusting to care or you're yet to bring up the topic, we want to make this process easy for you and your loved ones. For advice and support visit https://www.dalecare.co.uk/2026/01/23/resistance-to-home-care/

Cervical Cancer Prevention: An important reminder for a female dominated industry 🩷

According the Eve Appeal (a UK gynaecological cancers charity) 5000 people are saved every year from developing cervical cancer through cervical screening.

Because the care industry is made up heavily by females, this cervical cancer prevention week we wanted to remind our staff of the importance of cervical screening and why it is important to attend those appointments.

Cervical cancer is known to be one of the most preventable cancers due to cervical screening and the HPV vaccination. Those aged 25 to 65 will receive a letter reminding them to book your cervical screening test through your GP.

While these tests may be daunting, it's important to look after your own health. Especially our carers, as you care for the health and well-being of others everyday, it's time to look after you.

Compassionate Carers: Putting smiles on our service users πŸŽ…

Christmas may have passed, but our appreciation continues!

On Christmas Eve, some of our incredible carers went above and beyond by dressing up to bring festive cheer to Barnaby House, one of our Extra Care Schemes in Middlesbrough.

It’s these thoughtful gestures that truly brighten our service users’ day. We’re so thankful for their kindness and creativity. Thank you!

πŸ’™ Compliment πŸ’™

We have recently received a compliment from South Tyneside council following an incident with a service user. They wanted to express their thanks and appreciation on behalf of the service user for Tracy and Karen from our South Tyneside branch. Because of their determination and quick thinking the issue was soon resolved and we are extremely proud.

Thank you for all your hard work, you're a credit to our team! πŸ’™
