Do you ever wonder why we so often see the bleakness in a picture or a moment in our lives rather than looking for the joy. I have lived a life which has often been dark, lonely or fearful. During my darkest moment when my daughters and I had to move into a safe place I found such peace and hope. It was just before Christmas and my daughters were still quite young, we moved into a safe house, the windows were boarded up, we had no furniture as we had to leave where we had been living quickly.
We had brought a blow up double bed, a cylinder gas fire, a cooker, a TV (always essential) and some fairy lights. Together we hung up the fairy lights in the living room and sat roasting marshmallows in front of the gas fire. We were warm, safe and together. In that moment we were at peace, we were happy and we created a memory with each other that has stayed with us for the last twenty years.
For many this year has been some of our darkest moments, however in the darkness there is always the potential to find light, it maybe the fairy lights, the sense of safety, the knowledge that by releasing the fear, doubts, loss or even the bad memories, you can find light or release!! As my daughters and I snuggled together in front of that fire, we found hope in our bleakest moment. www.eirenecoaching.com
