I'm working my way through the many wonderful, supportive and heartwarming comments on my last post where I shared the news that I will be closing. It's a little overwhelming but I promise I will get to every comment.
A few people have managed to book a place already on my final course in March and I'm very grateful that it is already half full!

My last 5 week course will be in Carrville, Durham at Mae Raes, starting on Thursday 5th March until 2nd April, 10.00 - 11.30, £60.

Hello 2026. A year that will see change.
I've spent the past few weeks taking a much needed break followed by a slow easing in to the new year. This time has allowed me to reflect and accept that I need to close My Kid Rocks.  This won't be immediate, so don't panic. I will be running one last Baby Massage course in March.

Back in 2020 I was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition Rheumatoid Arthritis.
To begin with it was manageable, but last January I really began to struggle. I've spent the last year with daily pain, brain fog and fatigue that has affected all aspects of my life.
I've eventually cut my classes down to just one a week, but honestly, financially it's just not sustainable. My once successful business has become a passion project that I have really, really struggled to let go of.
I love what I do and I know I have made a difference to so many at a time in their lives that matters so much.
But it's time.
My condition is unstable and sadly, it won't get better.
I have just started a new medication, so I have a little bit of hope that will mean less pain and slower progression, but I also need to remain realistic. Running a business and everything that comes with that is exhausting at the best of times.

I want to take a moment to to thank everyone that has supported my business of the past almost 10 years. All the parents who have attended my classes, the babies who have enjoyed their massages, and all my friends and family who have cheered me on from the sidelines, sharing my posts and telling people all about me. Without you all, none of this would have been possible and for that I will be forever grateful.

I've no idea what 2026 will look like yet, but what I am certain of is that I have one more course to run and I'll be absolutely treasuring every moment of it. Unfortunately there will be no Nurture Neuroscience classes.

I've just seen a post somewhere about an 8 week old baby struggling with wind so I went to grab this link and now I can't find the post 🤦‍♀️
But it's reminded me that this needs sharing regularly for the many babies that seem to struggle and the parents who want so very much to help their unsettled babies.
Maybe the mam asking for help will also see this 🤞

Some mornings leaving the house is hard. A rough night, rubbish weather, or lack of motivation can make a cosy day in the house feel more appealing, but sometimes a whole day in the house with a baby can feel like a very long day!

During my last Baby Massage class, we chatted about what motivated the parents to book the course in the first place.

Reasons ranged from wanting something to do that provides dedicated one to one time with their baby, to wanting to learn massage properly with feedback from an instructor and the opportunity to ask questions (something you don't get from watching a YouTube video!).
I often also hear people say that they were searching for a class that is relaxing or calming for not only their baby but for themselves too.

All of these things can be found in my classes, and it was SO lovely to hear the mums say that my class 'felt like a nice warm hug' and 'I always leave feeling so much better after this class'. It absolutely made my day!

It really is SO much more than just massage 😍

Half of the places on my next Baby Massage course have already been booked!
The 5 week course starts on Thursday, 8th January, 10.00 - 11.30 at Mae Raes in Carrville, Durham.

The course is suitable from birth to 12 months with adaptations taught to cater for all stages of development and temperament - notice this baby's position during her massage!

It's a cue based programme, which means you'll always be encouraged to respond to your baby's needs whenever they arise, and by the end of the course you'll have a deeper understanding of how your baby communicates.
