Lorna Smith Movewell

Lorna Smith Movewell Hi, I'm Lorna. I’d like to help you use movement to feel connected, embodied and empowered.

I offer yoga classes, pelvic floor rehab classes (hypopressives) and Feldenkrais ATM lessons (Awareness Through Movement) in and around the Durham area.

If the energy of January feels a little loud or demanding, you’re not alone.

MOVE WITH EASE offers a quieter way into movement — one that values sensing over striving, and ease over effort.

This slow, gentle yoga class is guided through awareness and inspired by the Feldenkrais Method, supporting nervous-system regulation, smoother movement, and a more comfortable relationship with your body.

No experience needed. All welcome ✨

Come as you are — and be met where you are

If you’ve ever thought “yoga might help, but I’m not sure my body can do it,” you’re not alone.

MOVE WITH EASE is a slow, gentle yoga class designed for people who feel tight, cautious, or unsure for anyone beginning again and those interested in working with the neuroplasticity of the brain instead of force to facilitate change.

Guided through awareness and inspired by the Feldenkrais Method, this class encourages doing less, moving more slowly, and letting the body learn in a way that feels safe.

No experience needed. All welcome.

Come as you are — and be met where you are.

Hey Folks,

✨ I’ve been a little quiet here on socials over the festivities but wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came to class in 2025 — being in the room with your energy and trust is the highlight of my week! 💛

I’m back with a little refreshed look and can’t wait to see you all back on the mat 💖

January’s focus is rooting: connecting through the middle to stabilise on two feet.
🌱 The stronger we root, the more we can move out into the world as we move through and emerge from Winter.

January’s class is particularly beginner-friendly so do share or bring a friend 😊

✨ Mondays 10.30–11.30am | Burnhope Community Centre / Starts 12 Jan

"You’ve done the Kegels. You’ve followed the advice. And you’re still wondering… is there a better way?"

After the school run. The dog walk. Work. Pick-up. Dinner. Tidy-up. Homework.
You want to train, to feel strong — but won’t that make “down there” worse?

I get it, because I’ve been there.
I thought I just needed to get stronger.
Months with a personal trainer, sweating it out — only to notice a heaviness I’d never felt before.

Pilates? Confusing.
Bootcamp? Agony.
Kegels? Let’s just say I’ve played more “squeezy Pac-Man” in my bathroom than I’d like to admit.

Then I found hypopressives.
Breathing that felt strange. Postures that looked easy — but weren’t.
My shoulders ached. My hips shook. My ribs opened.
And one day, without thinking, my pelvic floor lifted — no squeezing required.

That was the shift.
Ease replaced tension.
Connection replaced confusion.
I felt confident, not cautious.

And that’s why I teach this now — not to make you do more, but to help you do what works in less time, with more joy.
We’ll laugh, we’ll breathe, and we’ll get your body working with you, not against you.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time, this is it.

☀️ I'm back from a week in the sun… and doing my best to ease back in gently.
I don’t know about you, but when the working week and school run kick in, I can be prone to launching into top gear.

This time, I’m trying something different — a softer landing.
Slower mornings. More breath between tasks. Longer dog walks with friends.
Letting the holiday rhythm linger just a little longer.

And while I was away… a little something exciting landed:
📖 Dougal and I made it into Women’s Health magazine!

There’s a short piece on hypopressives — the core + pelvic floor method I teach — and a special offer if you’ve been curious to try them.

If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to give that a go… but I can’t get to a class,”
💻 Stay tuned — something online is coming this September.
🧡 And if now feels like the right time to give it a try, there’s a discount code in the magazine (WELLWOMAN) to get you started.

More on that soon — but for now, I’m easing in… slowly
