RTMinds

RTMinds RTProjects uses art to save lives. is here for people who live with depression, anxiety and those at risk of suicide Art should be part of a healthy lifestyle.

RTProjects is an independent registered charity, set up in 2007 upon the belief that art can save lives. We aim to reduce anxiety and depression by enabling people to use art to strengthn their emotional resilience. We believe that everyone can benefit from participation in creative activities. Modern lifestyles are all too often made up mostly of work and TV, leaving many people disconnected from creative thought and discontented with their lives. We think of it as ‘jogging for the mind’. Discovering art can be life changing. Art can:
Enable people to re-connect with themselves and others;
Reduce Anxiety through engagement in mindful activity;
Improve self esteem by producing something to be proud of;
Stimulate the creative part of the brain. RTProjects is a powerful alternative to clinical and pharmaceutical treatments. We know it works. We see first hand the life-changing impact our projects have upon people’s lives.

Sorry to have left everyone in suspense. I know you've all been thinking about whether or not our polar team made it to the North Pole or not. In 38 days, the team of 14 made it 1,505 miles, which as the crow flies, put us on the same line of latitude as the southern tip of Svalbard. That's almost 40 miles a day. At that rate, it would have taken us 61 days to reach the North Pole, so we were less than 2 weeks away. We'll give it just a little more time next year!

We have also raised to date £617.50. The fundraiser will be up until the end of January though, so if you really wanted to donate but Christmas costs understandably came first, you have plenty more time to send us some pennies - localgiving.org/fundraising/North-Pole-Challenge

A massive thank you to the polar team - Adam J, Ben J, Callum P, Darren S, David F, Emma S, Janet M, Liz J, Lucy T, Mel D, Oliver T, Sarah J, Sarah T, and Simon T.

We'll see you again on 5th November 2026, when we start our 50 day North Pole Challenge.

Our Polar Explorers are at the half way point now, 32 days after setting off. As the crow flies, we are around the Jan Mayen Ridge, which means we have crossed from the Norwegian Sea, into the Greenland Sea.

So all we need to do the hit our target, is to do 32 days worth of miles in the next 4 days.

Totally possible. If 100 people join us doing 3 miles a day, we'll be there to welcome Santa back home.

It's not too late to sign up, and it's definitely not too late to donate. Do you know, the most popular Christmas present this year is a donation to RTMinds? No need to look that up, you can take my word for it.

Apologies for missing the usual Thursday update. The winter flu bug thing has struck, necessitating some bed rest, but we have made it 1,158 miles so far. As the crow flies, that puts us north of mainland Scandinavia, and north of Jan Mayen. We're still a little short of Svalbard, but hopefully a good few days will see us on that line of latitude shortly. The North Pole is still looking a ways off, though if we can churn out 1,275 miles over the next week, we'll be there.

We'd love it if you could contribute any spare pennies or pounds to our fundraiser. You can do that here - localgiving.org/fundraising/North-Pole-Challenge

Many thanks, Adam
