Transform with Tez held Somatic Yoga with our residents which they enjoyed
Somatic Yoga is Yoga a practice that focuses on internal body sensations.
It uses mind and movement to bring a sense of safety within the body through nervous system regulation work.
Unlike traditional yoga, which focuses of a specific posture, somatic yoga focuses on how does a movement feel for you and gives the person much more options to feel and do what is right for them!
Residents mapped their whole bodies and brought love and attention to places that may be sore/achy.
They woke up and felt part of their bodies that may have not been touched for a long time. They took a trip down memory lane and listened to tunes such as "Hit the road Jack" and got the opportunity throughout to express themselves and dance if they wanted to, all whilst doing some mobility shapes that worked for their body.
