Can you help us find the hidden defibrillators in schools in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire?

We know that just under 70% of schools in our region have registered at least one defibrillator with The Circuit, the national defibrillator database run by the British Heart Foundation

But that means we think there are 479 schools in our region who might have a defibrillator that is invisible to our 999 control room teams.

If someone has a cardiac arrest near a school that we know has a defibrillator, we can direct a member of the public to get it - and it could make all the difference between life and death.

Schools can check if their defib is registered quickly and easily here: https://ow.ly/Xl9T50XokCC

❓What should an adrenaline auto-injector (AAI) look like? ❓
Adrenaline degrades over time and may be less effective after the expiry date, so make sure you replace your adrenaline devices on time.
Check your AAIs (Jext and EpiPen) regularly to make sure the liquid is clear and colourless. If it seems discoloured or contains particles, replace it.

Remember to sign up to your device's free expiry alert service via the manufacturer's website.

👩‍⚕️Disposing for your adrenaline auto-injector 👩‍⚕️

An adrenaline auto-injector (AAI) is a medication that contains a needle and must be disposed of safely and correctly when it has been used or has expired.

Remember, remember to be safe this November!

It's Bonfire Night, and we have some more vital safety advice to help you and your loved ones celebrate safely.

🎆When lighting fireworks, always use a taper at arm’s length.
🎆Stand well back.
🎆Never give sparklers to children under the age of five.
🎆Always supervise children around fireworks.
🎆Only light sparklers one at a time, and wear gloves.
🎆Be considerate to animals when letting off fireworks – let neighbours know in advance so they can care for pets.
🎆Ensure firework displays are over by midnight (the cut off time by law).
🎆Once the firework debris has cooled down, tidy it up and soak in water overnight before putting it in a rubbish bag in the bin.

💓 76 members of our team are now carrying defibrillators when they're not on shift. 💓

Less than one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. It’s a shocking statistic, but one we’re determined to change.

Early CPR and defibrillation can double someone's chances of survival. That's why we've taken an important step to put more lifesaving defibrillators into the heart of our community.

📍 16 in Berkshire
📍 27 in Buckinghamshire
📍 27 in Oxfordshire
📍 6 in surrounding areas

This includes frontline crew and charity staff who have received formal training to provide bystander CPR and use the defibrillator we have provided to them.

It means that if someone collapses at home, in a park, or on the high street, help could already be close at hand. 🚨
