Only call 999 in a life-threatening or serious emergency that requires immediate assessment.
If your emergency is not immediately or potentially life-threatening, we aim to be with you within 2-3 hours. However, at this time of year, the wait for some people could be significantly longer.
Remember - arriving at A&E by ambulance will not mean you get seen more quickly by hospital staff.
So if you can make your own way to A&E or an urgent treatment centre, let us know so we can send the ambulance crew to someone else who really needs us.
If you are waiting for an ambulance, only call us back on 999 if the patient's condition changes.
