Following on from something I shared yesterday, I wanted to explain a little more about why I created the Waiting for Therapy workbook.

One thing I’ve noticed through my counselling training is how many people are told they need therapy, but then end up waiting weeks or months before it actually begins.

During that waiting period people often start searching online for help, but there’s so much information out there that it can feel overwhelming and hard to know where to start.

Because of that, I created a CBT-informed digital workbook designed specifically for the time before therapy begins.

It includes structured reflections and practical exercises to help people make more sense of their thoughts and emotions and feel a little more grounded while they wait.

It isn’t therapy and it isn’t a replacement for professional support, but it’s designed to be a supportive resource during that gap before therapy starts.

If it feels like something that might help you or someone you know, I’ll put the link in the comments 🤍

I’ve quietly been working on something and I’ve finally finished it.

If you’re on a waiting list for therapy (or know someone who is), the in-between can feel really difficult. You’re ready for support… but you’re still waiting.

So I’ve created a CBT-informed digital workbook to help people manage thoughts, emotions and anxiety while they wait.

It includes structured exercises, guided reflections and practical tools you can use in your own time.

It’s not therapy and it’s not a replacement for working with a professional — but it’s supportive, informed and created from my counselling training as I complete my qualification.

It’s £9 and an instant download.

I’ll pop the link in the comments 🤍

If something feels bigger than it “should”…

It probably is.

Not because you’re dramatic.
But because it’s touching something older.

Our subconscious doesn’t measure logic.
It measures familiarity.

If something resembles a past experience,
your system reacts quickly.

Awareness is how you update that response.

And regulation is how you calm it.

If you’d like a simple reset to use when that activation hits, it’s here:

Ever notice how the same type of situation gets you?

Different day.
Different person.
Same emotional reaction.

That’s not coincidence.

Your nervous system doesn’t react to events.
It reacts to what the event represents.

Old meaning.
Old memory.
Old protection.

That’s why it feels automatic.

And here’s the part most people miss:

You don’t break patterns by forcing calm.
You break them by noticing them sooner.

That small moment of awareness changes everything.

If you want something structured to help you interrupt that spiral in real time, I’ve shared my 5-minute reset here:

Most of the time it isn’t the situation itself that overwhelms us.

It’s our internal representation of it.

The meaning we attach.
The story we tell ourselves.
The memory it triggers.
The familiar pattern it activates.

Two people can experience the same situation — and feel completely different about it.

Because what really creates the intensity isn’t just what’s happening.

It’s what it activates inside us.

Old associations.
Unconscious triggers.
Automatic thoughts.

That’s why trying to “just be rational” doesn’t always work.

Awareness is the first interruption.

When you notice:
“Ah… this feels bigger than the moment.”

You’ve already created space between you and the pattern.

I’ve put together a simple 5-minute reset I use when I catch myself in that space — something structured and grounding to steady the nervous system before the spiral builds.

If that would help you, you can get it here:

When your mind feels busy or heavy, it’s usually your nervous system that needs settling — not more advice.

That’s why telling yourself to “calm down” rarely works.

I’ve created a simple 5-minute Reset Method that helps you pause, ground yourself and feel a bit steadier again.

It’s practical. Structured. Something you can actually use in the moment when everything feels a bit too much.

If that sounds like something you need, you can get it here:

Use it whenever you need to come back to yourself.

Waiting for therapy isn’t just frustrating — it’s destabilising.

You finally ask for help.
Then you’re told to wait.
Weeks.
Sometimes months.

You Google.
You save advice.
You try different techniques.
And it becomes overwhelming fast.

There’s no structure.
No containment.
Just information overload.

That’s exactly why I’m creating a guided workbook specifically for people in that waiting stage.

Not therapy.
Not vague affirmations.
Structured.
Grounded.
Something practical to hold onto while you wait.

While I’m building it, I’ve made a free 5-minute reset you can use right now.

If you’re waiting for therapy and want something structured — join the list.
You’ll get the reset immediately and be the first to know when the workbook is released.

Are you waiting for therapy !
Waiting for therapy can feel like you’re in limbo.

You’ve finally asked for help… and now waiting feels like forever

If you’re on a waiting list and don’t know what to do in the meantime, I’ve created a simple 5-minute reset you can use straight away.

And I’m building something specifically for this “in-between” stage too.

If you’d like early access (and the free reset), you can join here:

Something I’ve realised over time is that patterns don’t repeat because we’re lazy or not trying.

They repeat because they’re familiar.

Even when a habit, reaction, or way of thinking isn’t helpful anymore, it can still feel safer than the unknown. So we fall back into it — often without even noticing.

This is why change can feel exhausting.
You’re not just changing behaviour — you’re asking your nervous system to do something unfamiliar.

That’s where a reset can help.
Not to fix everything, but to pause the loop long enough to choose something different.

I’ve shared a short, free 5-minute Reset Method for moments like this — something gentle you can use when you notice yourself slipping back into old patterns.

One of the most frustrating things I see (and experience myself) is this:

You know the pattern.
You understand why it’s happening.
You’ve read about it. Talked about it. Thought about it.

And yet… you still end up doing the same thing.

That’s because patterns don’t live in logic alone.
They live in the nervous system, in habit, in what feels familiar and safe.

This is why “trying harder” rarely works —
and why change often starts with a reset, not more effort.

A pause.
A moment out of autopilot.
A chance for your system to recalibrate before the old loop kicks in again.

I’ve created a short, free 5-minute Reset Method for moments like this.
It’s not therapy — just something gentle you can use when you notice yourself slipping back into the same pattern.
