Wendy and Ann spent a lovely afternoon with Kim decorating recycled glass bottles and jars with paint and découpage. Many of the bottles are on display around the home, and some will be sold at a tabletop sale later in the year.

Découpage involves cutting out decorative paper and gluing it to another object and is often combined with paint and other decorative elements to create a cool collage finish. Although the fancy French word sounds complex, découpage is actually a very simple craft. All you need is decorative paper, scissors and some glue to get started!

We had a special celebration as our lovely resident Ruby celebrated her 93rd birthday. Of course, no birthday is complete without some delicious cake – and Ruby who used to be a cook and professional cake maker herself enjoyed every bite!

Happy birthday Ruby, thank you for letting us share in your special day.

Our residents had a wonderful morning making and painting some fabulous colourful Ladybugs! It is amazing what you can create with some empty toilet rolls, pipe cleaners and googly eyes.

The bugs are dotted all over the home, why not see how many you can spot!

Last week we said goodbye to our Home Manger, Julie and to mark the occasion had two fabulous events on the same day! 🧡

In the morning Charters Court welcomed students and staff from St Piers School and College in Lingfield, for a coffee morning and fundraising raffle. Everyone came together and donned a purple hat, the students from St Piers sang for the residents and the lucky raffle winners enjoyed choosing from the wide selection of prizes.

In the afternoon, a party was held to say farewell to Julie. There were speeches from both members of staff and residents Ann and Wendy, together with a fun video presentation. The Wellbeing team had organised a display board showing photos of Julie’s time in the home which included lots of happy memories. Staff had brought in traditional food dishes from their homelands for everyone to share and Julie was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a bottle of fizz plus there was music and dancing…….. phew, what a busy day we had!!
