Joanna Sale from Dignity Access has written an article in the current issue of Case Management Magazine that explores the ethics of suppliers who are selling to vulnerable people or those in crisis with an obvious focus on the healthcare market (pages 36-38).
This is increasingly an issue when most companies, even quite small ones, are becoming progressively automated and data-driven, with less of a human interface.
At such times, it requires an elevated standard of ethical behaviour as, whatever the circumstances, people experiencing trauma in their lives may have reduced confidence, heightened emotional distress or cognitive overload (or limitation) – all of which can lead to reduced decision-making capability.
At its core, the issue centres on the responsible use of influence: whether a seller uses their expertise to help the buyer come to an informed choice or exploits vulnerability to secure a transaction.

The costs of care at a care home can add up fast. With the average cost for the UK at around £1,500 per week this can equate to £80,000 per year with the average stay in the region of 24 months.

WashPods helps people plan with clearer cost expectations and a more efficient route to delivery, so budgets go further without compromising on quality.

Final checks, done properly.

At Washpods, every unit goes through a full equipment test before sign-off, including the toilet, shower head, fan heater, towel rail, and sink. It’s how we make sure performance, safety, and reliability meet the standard long before installation.

The Dignity Access team were kept very busy at this year’s OT Show at the NEC, Birmingham. Early in the week our installation team erected three different models of our unique WashPod™ temporary disabled wetrooms ahead of the doors opening.

Across the two days, our Directors and National Sales Manager welcomed attendees to our stand, answering questions and demonstrating how WashPod™ can support safe, dignified bathing at home. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit us andfindoutmore.

WashPod - a mobile disabled bathroom

WashPod is a mobile, fully accessible washroom that will help keep you at home if you’re disabled or elderly. Life can turn on a sixpence and old age comes to us all but WashPod has been designed by architects who specialise in disability and accessibility. It is endorsed by occupational therapists and case managers.

If you’re elderly or disabled, being able to live in your own home becomes a real issue if you no longer have access to washing and toilet facilities but this unique, new ‘pod’ that can be erected in as little as a day, can help keep you in your own home, rather than a prolonged hospital stay or an early move to an expensive care home.

WashPods are either positioned externally in the garden or erected within an existing, reception or dining room that can be made available for the purpose. There’s even a mini WashPod model that can fit into smaller rooms while still providing wheelchair access and hoist options.

Both internal and external options give a less able person dignity until more suitable arrangements can be made, without significant disruption and stress to the family home.
