We Need You Monday Nights, 6–8pm at Little Brains Waist Not Want Not Sco50053 community wellbeing hub in Greenhills
This is us being honest.
We really need volunteers for our Monday night boys group. We’re not trying to be dramatic; we’re genuinely struggling for numbers, and it’s getting harder to keep the group running the way these boys deserve.
Our girls group is bursting with wonderful female volunteers. But for the boys? We scrape by with our amazing lads. But every week it breaks our hearts a little bit, because what does it say about men’s mental health, male role models, and the way boys are supported in our community?
These boys need people who show up. People who care. People who can be patient with big energy, loud laughs, and the occasional wobble.
And if you’re a parent reading this, please have a chat with your teens or young adults. Some of the very best volunteers were originally reluctant kids who thought they “weren’t the volunteering type”… and now they’re the ones who light up the room.
The truth is that our kids do have Additional Support Needs, but please don’t let that put you off. They are amazing kids with a bit more spark. More energy. More honesty. More emotion. And they are genuinely some of the most rewarding young people you’ll ever meet.
*Disclaimer - nerf night is mental and you will need paracetamol*
Here’s what we can promise you or your teenager:
We will build you up as a person.
You’ll grow in confidence, patience, communication, leadership and all the qualities that make someone strong and capable.
We will build you up professionally.
We will train you, support you, give you responsibilities at your pace and help you gain experience that looks brilliant on any CV.
You’ll receive a Little Brains hoodie so you feel part of the team.
There are occasional pizza nights because we appreciate you.
You’ll join a genuinely supportive team who look out for each other.
And you’ll get the deep sense of knowing that you matter to someone.
Maybe you’re looking for a New Year’s resolution that actually means something.
Maybe your teenager needs confidence, purpose or a place to belong.
Maybe you want to do something real and practical for your community.
Two hours. One night a week.
You could change a child’s life just by showing up, and we will support you every step of the way.
Please message us if you can help. We really need you.
