It’s time for myself and Isla, to say goodbye to Isla Therapies as you’ve known it.

After 3 incredible years, hundreds of hours spent helping you move better, feel stronger, and recover faster, I’m officially closing the clinic. My house sale completes this Friday, and with that, I’ll be setting off to finally live the dream I’ve been talking about for so long, travelling with Isla and working online.

To every single one of you who’s booked in, come back, referred a friend, or simply trusted me to help you, thank you so very much!
For your loyalty, your support, your friendship… and for letting me be part of your journey to feeling better. In all honesty, you’ve supported me just as much over the years through your stories, encouragement, and kindness.

It’s been a rollercoaster, but one I’ve loved every single minute of.

While Isla Therapies won’t be based in Retford anymore, I’ll still be in touch with everyone who has an upcoming booking to arrange a home visit before I head off properly in October.

🔍 Tennis Elbow vs. Golfer’s Elbow — What’s Really Going On?

You’ve probably heard the terms “tennis elbow” and “golfer’s elbow” tossed around, but what’s the actual difference between the two?

Both of these conditions involve irritation of the tendons in your forearm where they anchor into the elbow. The key difference? Where the pain shows up.

A quick breakdown:
• Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) affects the outer part of the elbow.
• Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis) shows up on the inner side.

The tendons in these areas are linked to different muscle groups:
• On the outside (tennis elbow), they’re connected to the muscles that help extend your wrist and straighten your fingers.
• On the inside (golfer’s elbow), they’re attached to the muscles used to flex your wrist and grip objects.

You don’t need to play sports to feel it. These conditions often stem from repetitive movements, not just swinging a racket or a club. They’re common in anyone who uses their hands and arms in repeated, forceful ways — think manual work, typing, lifting, or even gardening.

How to Spot the Difference:

Tennis Elbow – pain on the outside of the elbow:
• Aching or sharp pain radiating down the forearm
• Tenderness around the outer elbow
• Weak grip or forearm fatigue
• Pain when twisting, lifting, or with tennis backhands

Golfer’s Elbow – pain on the inside of the elbow:
• Tender or aching sensation on the inner elbow
• Pain spreading down the inside of the forearm
• Weakness in the wrist or hand
• Numbness or tingling in the ring and little fingers
• Discomfort when gripping, twisting, or flexing the wrist
