Radio DGH

Radio DGH The radio station for Eastbourne District General Hospital and the local community broadcasting live 24/7. The rest is run by Myriad, our automated service.

Listen live from inside the hospital via the Hospedia bedside units or from wherever you are via our website www.radiodgheastbourne.com Radio DGH is Eastbourne's hospital radio station broadcasting 24 hours a day. It's made up of a dedicated band of volunteers manning many of our on air hours. Don't think it is all continuous music!! Our daytime schedule consists of a great mix of shows including our specialist selection ranging from big band music to show tunes. As with any station, Radio DGH has general running costs and is also looking for ways to improve our service and output. We are a registered charity and receives no official funding. The volunteers contribute personally through their annual subscription and we are also given an annual grant by The Friends Of Eastbourne Hospital. These monies only go so far and so we are constantly looking for ways to raise much needed funds, normally through events and - more recently - through a newly-created sponsorship package. Anyone organising an event or who runs a local business and is interested in assisting our fund-raising efforts is welcome to get in touch. Love music? If you love music of many kinds of music and would like to be a part of the team then, again, we'd love to hear from you. You must be at least 18 years of age. Don't worry if you're nervous about talking on the radio, we can nurture you along but there are also behind-the-scenes positions available, particularly as a request collector/production assistant. This would involve interacting with patients by going onto the wards and gathering requests and promoting the station. If you want to get involved please contact the Voluntary Services office of the hospital by calling 01323 417400 and asking for the Voluntary Service office. Alternatively, you can contact us and we can do the rest. We've been a part of the life of this hospital for over 60 years and would love to keep going for many many more, and you could be a part of it in a whole variety of ways.

It’s still the strange bit between Christmas and New Year where nobody really knows what’s going on. Are the bins due to be emptied? Are the shops open the usual time? Is it a Sunday service on the buses? Thankfully we are here to add some normality to this rather bizarre period thanks to The Tuesday Evening Show.

Join Shaun Crowhurst live from 6-8pm with the usual features including the bitesize golden hour, two on Tuesday, the what’s on guide and your selections on the jukebox from 7.

We’re celebrating in 2026 🙌 🥳

We’ve not one but TWO celebrations taking place. In 2026 we will be celebrating

🌟 50 years of Radio DGH at the District General Hospital.

🌟 75 years of hospital radio in Eastbourne.

Behind the scenes we are busy planning some special events to mark the occasions. However this is an appeal for any former members who have any old pictures, recordings and memories of Radio DGH which we could use on our social media pages, on our website and also on air throughout the anniversary year. If you have anything which we could use then please either leave a comment below, send us a message via Facebook or Instagram or email programmecontroller@radiodgh.com

Thank you
