This is the process of a full restoration of a Nikon PL2 Lensmeter.
The unit was suffering 'Flop' when adjusting the target.
It was necessary to strip down to every component to access the target assembly. Rebuild successful and pleased with the results.

When not fixing instruments I enjoy Solar Astronomy, this is an image I captured today using an old Fundus camera DSLR strapped to a Solar Telescope, the light is H Alpha.

This instrument fell off of a table and not surprisingly no longer worked. The failure was traced to a cable that had been ripped from a circuit board. The socket was a right off and so we replaced it by hard wiring to the pcb, next the back light on the display had also failed and so in order to keep the cost down and not pay over the odds for a backlight driver we added an LED light source. The result as you can see is stunning.

Please don't do this...never use tape to hold a power switch...it's cheaper to replace than the consequence of injury or fire... This is a PAT failure too...if your PAT checker passes this then find someone better suited for the Job.
