A competent level 3 trained reflexologist with a qualification in an accredited course will have performed at least 100 reflexology treatments including 6 case studies on a range of clients, covering a variety of health concerns, they will have competently performed at least 3 practical assessments, one of which will have been checked for quality, research projects will have been undertaken in business, health, safety, histories and theories, along with passing two exams in anatomy & physiology. They will be able to perform a variety of skills and techniques to suit your needs, the course will normally have been run over 9 months to 1 year with continued competency. We held our FHT meeting on Wednesday 4th February on Stone Therapy using hot and cold stones. We discussed histories, contra-indications, set up, equipment and techniques. Demonstration included using techniques such as effleurage and petrissage, we examined the use of hot and cold stones and their effects on the body. We then practiced on each other through our clothes which included tapping of the stones causing a vibration effect. Teas, coffees, cakes and biscuits were served. Further discussion included courses and making sure they are accredited and offer thorough training/assessment to ensure quality, competence and time for reflection. This is a support group for beauty, complementary and sports massage therapists. Please get in touch if you are a lone therapist and would like to join us.
