What an emotional weekend!

Been dying to tell the world but Friday Tash's water broke and went into labour Saturday before eventually delivering our amazing baby boy via c-section.

Due to an infection for both baby and Tash, both have been kept in for the last few days but finally come home today.

After a long 5 months away, I'm finally back ๐Ÿ™Œ

It's been a busy few months to say the least.

Due to the cost of living, and having a very imminent bundle of joy, I have sadly had to give up the personal training.

Over the last few months I have gone from juggling PT sessions with clients, 18 hours a week of college and working in a local factory 3 days a week to transitioning to working full time after I finished college, moving in with me all the while preparing for the arrival of the baby.

It's been a challenge and a struggle at points, with completely hitting and working through burnout in December.

But I'm happy to announce...

I have officially passed my Level 3 Sports Massage and Level 4 Advanced Personal Trainer ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm now offering Sports Massage (based out of Ebbw Vale) and swapped from 1-2-1 Personal Training to Online Coaching.

More to come in the following days on my updated services ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can all clients please be aware that from Tuesday 6th September, I will be in college on a Tuesday and Friday which means I have no availability during the day time on those days.

Even sessions will go ahead as normal.

During non term times, I will open up my availability fully.

Are you hampering your weight loss?

There is so much confusing information on the internet and social media these days on weight loss.

Weight loss is far simpler than people realise.

โœ…Be active and increase your NEAT
โœ…Drink enough water during the day
โœ…Get sufficient sleep
โœ…Prioritise hitting your protein target
โœ…Avoid over-training and prioritise rest

all of these things, combined with a calorie deficit, will help your weight loss progress.

Scales โš–๏ธ

I have had two separate conversations with people in the last 24 hours about using weighing scales to track weight.

What both conversations have in common, is a belief that weighing more than once a week will develop an unhealthy relationship with tracking weight.

Tracking weight more than once a week is perfectly healthy as long as you understand that the information is nothing but data.

It's just telling you where your weight, which includes more than just fat, is at that moment in time.

Tracking weight with apps such as Happy Scale or Monitor Your Weight takes the guesswork out of tracking and lets you know your daily and weekly average.

Obviously, the scales aren't the only way to track progress, but ill talk about the others in another post ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด

Sleep is often a major factor in people's health and fitness journeys that is overlooked.

Sufficient sleep can have such an impact on your training.

In the first clip, which is one from last week where I was well rested and feeling good, I managed to hit a new PB of 172.5kg.

The last few weeks, my training weight has been 160kg, which has slowly been getting easier.

Today, due too poor quality and insufficient amount of sleep, I couldn't get 160kg off the floor. I made 3 separate attempts, each with 3-5 mins rest in between and that 1" was the most I managed.

Dropped the weight back down to 140 and it was more or less the same level of effort as 172.5kg from last week. Each and every rep of that 140 was a grind.

So what is a sufficient amount of sleep?

Both the NHS and the National Sleep Foundation both agree that the recommended amount of sleep for an adult is between 7-9 hours.

Learn to prioritise sleep and your training will improve ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ‘Š
