Today's venue is in our hometown of Tredegar. Central Surgery, built in 1911 by the Tredegar Medical Aid Society, funded and created by local miners to provide free healthcare for the people of Tredegar, and a building that helped create the blueprint for the NHS as we know it today.

Tredegar was also the birthplace of Aneurin Bevan, who was a central figure in creating the NHS. When launching it in 1948 he was quoted as saying "We are going to Tredegar-ise you."

A few great days training in a historical building, thanks to Spectrum Healthcare for having us.

We will continue to work to the required standards, passing on our knowledge and skillset to our learners with the one shared goal of reducing the amount of incidents that occur throughout healthcare.

We are pleased to announce that our PMVA courses at Evolve PMVA are now accredited through the CPD Standards Office , sitting alongside our existing BILD accreditation.

This dual accreditation gives our training an additional layer of independently verified credibility, recognised across the Healthcare sector (including the NHS), social care, retail, transport, and beyond.

Not only does this allow us to broaden the sectors we work with, but it also adds value to our learners who will now leave out courses with a qualification that contributes towards their Continuing Professional Development, recognised by professional bodies across the UK.

Courses we are currently offering include:
- PMVA (initial training)
- PMVA (Refreshers)
- Conflict Resolution
- Breakaways & Personal Safety.

If you're interested in taking the necessary steps to keep your staff safe, please get in touch for an informal chat about how we can support you.

A story that has been a hot topic in the press over the last week. Mark Hehir was driving the 206 bus in June 2024 when a man got on, snatched a necklace off a woman's neck and ran off. He then chased the man down and took the necklace back.
But the man followed him back to the bus and 'threw the first punch' at Mr Hehir. He responded in self-defence, hitting the man once and knocking him out. He then dragged him to the pavement and held him down until police arrived almost half an hour later.

He was later arrested but released with no charge, with police stating Mr Hehir "had used force which was proportionate and necessary in the circumstances in the defence of himself and the female passenger". Despite this, Metroline deemed that he had used excessive force (because the man was attempting to shake his hand), that he had left his passengers in danger and that restraining him for half an hour was an "excessive use of force and disproportionate".

Appears very controversial with so many questions. Is this an example of corporate risk-aversion overriding common sense? Have Metroline implemented their own policy attempting to override common law? Are they treating this more as a liability issue than a moral issue?

What's your thoughts?
- His actions were justified 👍🏻
- No he used excessive force 🤔
- Metroline were right in sacking him 😐

We have had a brilliant week delivering a bespoke PMVA package in South Wales to a local children's service. A fantastic group of learners that not only were keen to learn, but made the courses very enjoyable.

All feedback we received was 100% positive, with the overarching theme that the courses were fun and informative. Hearing this feedback reinforces that we are delivering our courses exactly how we plan to do so.

We are big advocates for creating a relaxed learning environment, in turn, we feel this is how we get the most out of learners and dispels any fear or anxiety they may have around attending a PMVA course.

To put it simple, we don't run our courses like a bootcamp!!

Our 2026 diary is open, with bookings starting to come in. If you're interested in working with us to help keep your staff safe, then get in touch, (contact details in the comments section).

Philip recently attended one of our bespoke PMVA courses in Warrington. He told us this wasn’t the first time he’d attended PMVA training, he’d actually done it several times before.

But after completing our course, Philip was keen to leave us a positive video review, saying it was the best PMVA course he had attended. He highlighted that:

👍🏻 The course was professional
👍🏻 The tutors were knowledgeable
👍🏻 He now feels confident in dealing with aggressive individuals

It’s always great when learners are genuinely keen to get in front of the camera and share such positive feedback, it makes our jobs even more enjoyable.
