Matcha was originally made for monks, not influencers.

Here’s what you might not know about Matcha 🌿

1. One cup of matcha = 10 cups of green tea

You are consuming the whole leaf, therefore it is up to 10x higher in antioxidants.

2. It can support gut health

High quality matcha is rich in polyphenols, which feed good gut bacteria and help reduce inflammation.

3. It’s been a 900 year old mindfulness ritual

Samurai and monks used matcha before meditation to stay calm get alert. It was designed to help the brain focus without stress.

You can now purchase our premium ceremonial matcha using the link above.

Did you know that Matcha contains around 70mg of caffeine per cup but unlike other caffeine drinks, it’s bound to L-theanine, an amino acid that changes how your body absorbs and uses it.

Instead of a quick spike, you get a slow, steady release of energy that lasts for hours.

This is why matcha is loved by anyone who needs sustained concentration and not a quick rush.

It supports your nervous system, sharpens focus, boosts dopamine and serotonin, and even enhances memory and reaction time, all while keeping you grounded.

But remember not all matcha is created equal, make sure you opt for high grade ceremonial matcha every time 🌿

Myths about matcha (and what you need to know)

Whenever something that is good for you becomes a trend - there is always cynic’s waiting to bring it down.

Let us clear up a few things about matcha.

- Matcha is NOT new. It has been around for over a thousand years. It was originally used as a medicinal in the 12th century.

- Matcha is higher in oxalates but is not dangerous for the average person, only if you have been told by a doctor to reduce oxalates in your diet. For context spinach has around 650mg per cup (raw) with matcha having around 12.6mg per 2g.

- Matcha won’t effect your iron levels unless your either anaemic or your drinking A LOT of it every day.

I personally drink 2x cups every day, have done for the past 7 years and my iron has been fine (consult a doctor if your concerned)

- Not all ceremonial matcha is the same. There are different grades of ceremonial matcha, differences in harvesting methods and timings. If it’s cheap, there’s a reason.

The bottom line is, matcha is incredible good for most people.

It’s high in antioxidants, polyphenols and catechins - which combat oxidative stress and can offer anti- inflammatory and anti-aging benefits (that’s why I get asked for ID even in my late 30’s 😜)

Matcha has been a huge benefit personally in my life.

It has helped inflammation in my gut, helped me manage my ADHD and given me a stronger immune system.

Don’t believe the critics, if it works for you - drink it.

Why matcha is in a demand crisis…

There is a huge shortage of matcha right now, with even big brands like Starbucks selling out.

But here’s the truth:

Matcha is one of a kind and is grown in a very specific environment.

Most people don’t realise that matcha isn’t just “green tea powder.” True ceremonial-grade matcha is one of the most labour intensive drinks on the planet and that’s exactly why it’s so rare and sought-after.

That’s exactly why we have been working with direct farms to create our own matcha.

And at MatchaMind, there is no shortage - just real high quality ceremonial grade matcha for our customers.

When you choose us for your event, you’re not just booking a cart - you’re curating a matcha ritual, crafted to the highest standard.

I can’t believe I’m writing this but…

We are closing the Matcha Shop Front.

After a lot of reflection (and matcha) I’ve decided to close the doors of our permanent shop to fully focus on MatchaMind Events & Pop Ups.

This isn’t a goodbye - it’s an evolution for us as a business and brand.

The truth is, our events have taken on a life of their own. From fashion weeks, to brand activations and wellness pop ups - we’ve decided that this is where our brand thrives the most.

When I opened MatchaMind in 2023, the goals was to share my love for matcha with the world. I wanted others to improve their health (just like it helped me) - with the mission of bringing human connection back together again.

The events give us the opportunity to connect with other wellness enthusiasts. It also gives us the opportunity to share matcha all around the UK and not just one location.

I want to thank every single person who came to the shop. The ones who travelled far, the ones who live around the corner and the ones who kept us going through the difficult months (thanks Scottish weather).

The next chapter is only just beginning and we want to share it with you all.

We will also be doing our own events so that you can still be part of our matcha experience (make sure your on our email list) 😜.

We may even have our own matcha brewing in the background 🤫

Our last opening day will be Thursday 14th August.

As a thank you to everyone - ALL MATCHA will be £3 for the whole day on Thursday! 🌿

It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon! 🍵

P.s if you’re looking to hire us for your event or brand activation please email info@zoemckenna.com

Our Carts are now located in Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 / London 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
