Job Ref: RB LM Part time Support Worker Required (Edinburgh, Leith area) Β£12.87 per hour
Permanent position, paid annual leave

Support worker required for female in her 60s with ME/CFS (Myalgic encephalomyelitis/ chronic fatigue syndrome) and anxiety and EMF (Electro-Magnetic Field) sensitivity. This is for psychological and practical support.
This job essentially requires making a plan with the employer to support me with knowing or recognising my limits and doing tasks within these limits. Such a plan may include helping me to schedule rest and keeping away from technology. This is with a view to improving the CFS and managing it, and giving support to implement the plan.
It would be preferable for the applicant to be a driver to support me with shopping and other tasks out with my home
Some tasks may be required occasionally such as shopping and IT support. It would be advantageous for an applicant to be familiar with Apple technology as I will require support to do things on my iPad. It is important to understand that I would be looking for a PA to complete the tasks (such as downloading files) rather than teaching me how to use the iPad. I am looking for support in spending less time on the iPad. These are variable and require flexibility.
Social distancing required at times (some mask wearing).

Some knowledge of ME/ CFS required and experience is essential. Here is a link to the NHS website for anyone who wants to learn more: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-cfs/

4 hours per week at Β£12.87 per hour.
Post subject to references and PVG membership is essential. If you are not already a member of PVG you will be asked to join.

To apply please obtain and application form. An application pack for PA vacancy RB LM can be downloaded from the recruitment section of the LCiL website lotiancil.org.uk

Job Ref: LW CK ED, Part time female (GOR*) personal assistant required (15.75hrs) for female with complex medical issues - North West Edinburgh

Part-Time Female (GOR*) Personal Assistant Required
I am seeking a compassionate, reliable, and caring Personal Assistant (PA) to support me with complex medical needs.

About Me:
β€’ I live independently in my own home, with family visiting regularly. Due to chronic pain, fatigue, and reduced mobility, I sometimes find everyday tasks difficult or impossible to manage alone. I am looking for a PA who will support me at my own pace, respect my dignity, and help me maintain as much independence as possible.

β€’ I am an easy-going, relaxed, and caring person. I enjoy getting out when I feel able, although I can experience anxiety around this. Having the support of a PA would help me feel more confident and comfortable going out.

β€’ I drive and have a car, and I would like my PA to accompany me on outings.

β€’ I enjoy going out in nature and on short walks, for example, a visit to the botanical gardens. I use a powered wheelchair when out and about and have a hoist in my car.

β€’ I share my home with a dog and a cat, so it is important that you are comfortable around animals.

The role
The goal of this role is to empower me to live a fulfilling and comfortable life while receiving the care and support I need.

The role includes:
β€’ Assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming (when required)
β€’ Mobility support, including assistance in and out of my wheelchair
β€’ Support with meal preparation (e.g., chopping fruit and vegetables)
β€’ Assistance with light household tasks such as changing bedding, hoovering and cleaning the bathroom
β€’ Prompting to take medication when required
β€’ Emotional support and companionship
β€’ Accompanying me to hospital appointments and support with communication if needed
β€’ Accompanying me to shops and assist with carrying items
β€’ Being flexible and responsive to changing daily needs

About you:
You are:
β€’ Experienced in a care role, ideally supporting individuals with disabilities, chronic pain, or fatigue
β€’ Compassionate, patient, empathetic, and positive in attitude
β€’ Reliable, trustworthy, and professional
β€’ Able to follow guidance however, also be intuitive to my changing needs and when required be able to use your own initiative to support me.

If you think you will be a good fit for this role, I would love to hear from you.

Applicants will need a PVG membership or be willing to join.

The post:
15.75hrs per week
Β£12.87 per hour
Flexible hours Monday to Friday.
