Sarah discovered yoga during a particularly challenging period in her life, with the practice offering her space, grounding, and a renewed connection to her body and inner self.

Over the past decade, Sarah has dedicated herself to both practising and teaching Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative Yoga. An accredited Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals, her teaching is rooted in the ancient traditions of yoga, integrating philosophy, mantra, asana, pranayama, and meditation in a way that is both practical and accessible.

Sarah’s teaching style is warm and lighthearted, creating an inclusive space for students to arrive exactly as they are. You can find her regularly teaching at the studio from Wednesday to Friday!

"I know too well the healing benefits a yoga practice can bring to anyone dealing with a cancer diagnosis and any long-term health issues. This has become my drive and determination to try and reach out to as many people as possible and guide them through a safe and gentle healing practice!" – Moira

In addition to teaching at Lila almost every day, Moi regularly teaches with Edinburgh Community Yoga Outreach programmes, including Chair Yoga for health and a Socially Prescribed class at Craigmillar Medical Centre. She's a firm believer that yoga can and should be accessible to all!

"I truly believe that everyone can practice yoga and experience the benefits of asana, pranayama and meditation. In my classes, workshops and trainings, I try my best to encourage students to try variations of postures and find an option which allows them to experience yoga in a way that works for their body" – Jo

Swapping a career in finance for teaching yoga full-time, Jo has completed various trainings and practised with senior teachers all over the world. She has been teaching in and around Edinburgh for around 16 years now!

Jo's main areas of interest range from traditional yoga styles to gentle yoga and injury recovery. At Lila, she can be found teaching and classes on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

"I have always loved the variety of asanas in Iyengar Yoga classes, and the way that the practice brings many physical benefits while drawing the practitioner ever deeper into an understanding of how yoga can profoundly and positively change our experience of, and relationship to the world around us." – Emma

New teacher Emma qualified as a teacher in 2023, following four years of training and mentoring. Since then, she has been the ultimate advocate for the Iyengar system of teaching: methodical and progressive. You can find her teaching at Lila on Monday mornings. Over the years of practising, Sandie has been drawn to Yin Yoga, deepening her understanding of stillness, acceptance, and the capacity to stay with what arises. For her, yoga is the practice of listening inwardly and reconnecting with the body — a way to bring the mind, emotions, and physical self into conversation.

Sandie's classes are a blend of intentional sequencing, music that matches the mood of the room, and moments of spontaneity. She hopes to create classes where people can explore movement and stillness — with awareness, curiosity, and acceptance.

Find her at the studio on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings ✨
