Happy Valentine's Day to all our tenants, colleagues and friends! 💗

It's not just about romantic love - it's the love we find in community, between neighbours, in a friendly chat over the fence or a shared cup of tea. Those everyday moments of kindness and connection that make a house feel like home.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Congratulations to Sylvia, who completed her 60 for 60 walk on Saturday♥️

Sylvia raised an incredible £890 for the British Heart Foundation - a charity very close to her and her family.

Everyone at Hanover has loved supporting her training over the past couple of months. What a fantastic achievement.

Time to put your feet up for a well-deserved rest.👏

Today marks Mind's and we’re encouraging people to talk about mental health - including the worries and feelings that can still feel difficult to say out loud.

Big life changes, ageing, loneliness or concerns about independence can weigh heavily on older people's mental wellbeing, yet they’re often left unspoken.

At Hanover, we believe open conversations help challenge outdated perceptions of later life and support people to feel confident, connected and in control of their important next chapter.

Because talking about mental health is a vital part of living well, at every stage of life💜

We’re delighted that Hanover Connect – our end-to-end digital transformation project – has been shortlisted for a Digital Service Transformation Award at Holyrood’s Digital Health and Care Awards 2026🎉

It’s a wonderful recognition of the ways we’re using technology to help our residents stay connected, safe, and independent in their homes.

Thank you to everyone involved – your hard work makes a real difference. The awards dinner is on 10 February in Edinburgh.

Fingers crossed!🤞

Help Sylvia hit her goal! 🎯💜

Earlier this month, we shared Sylvia Beaton’s mission - to walk 60km over 6 days and lose 6 stone ahead of her 60th birthday, all in support of the British Heart Foundation.

This cause is extremely close to Sylvia’s heart, and we’ve loved supporting her journey throughout our campaign.

Join us in cheering on our colleague Sylvia. Every donation helps fund life-saving research and vital support for people living with heart conditions.

We were delighted to welcome Mark Griffin MSP and Davy Russell MSP to our Woodburn Court housing development in Hamilton. Residents shared how vital safe, affordable homes with communal spaces are in tackling loneliness, supporting independence & keeping people well at home.

These homes save the NHS & social care money while improving lives – yet current subsidy rules exclude vital communal areas like lounges, dining rooms & on-site management, making new developments harder despite rising demand.
With Scotland’s older population growing rapidly, we need a national vision: joined-up housing and care budgets, stronger supply targets, and proper recognition for independent living within social housing developments.

Thank you to Mark and Davy for the insightful discussion and for championing these issues. As the political sphere finalises its manifesto, we urge all parties to prioritise housing that lets older people age well in their own communities.
