Scotland’s ageing population is growing - by 2041, people aged 65 and over is estimated to increase by 25%, from 1 million to 1.3 million.

Public Access Defibrillators (or PAD) is a simple-to-use device that can restart a heart during a sudden cardiac arrest.

The core principle in Scotland is that they are designed for use by the general public, with no training required.

In this post we have shared the answers to three frequently asked questions about PADs, which are:

- Do you need training to use a defibrillator?
- Can I hurt someone using a PAD?
- Will a defibrillator help someone who is having a heart attack?
