๐Ÿ‘‰ Book now https://painconcern.org.uk/pain-education-sessions-funding/

Pain Concern runs free, 2-hour pain education sessions for people living with long-term pain (pain lasting for more than 12 weeks). The sessions help you understand what pain is, why it persists and what you can do to manage it better day to day.

Sessions cover pain science, activity pacing, stress, sleep, flare-ups and understanding medicines. Theyโ€™re delivered by trained volunteers who have lived experience of chronic pain, and are developed in collaboration with NHS services. The aim is to help you build your own toolkit so pain doesnโ€™t control your life.

Sessions are currently online, with in-person options to be confirmed.

Just because itโ€™s common doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s normal.

Nutrition, contraception, culture... menstrual patterns have changed a lot in the last 200 years. Having periods โ€“ and the accompanying pain โ€“ every month throughout adolescence is not as โ€˜normalโ€™ as we might think.

A Pain in the Mind

On 12th April, Dr Sue Peacock will be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Pain Concern.

Sue has worked as a psychologist in the field of chronic pain for over 25 years, and has seen directly the impact it can have on peopleโ€™s lives.

โ€œIโ€™ve seen first-hand how devastating and life-limiting persistent pain can be. Iโ€™ve also seen how under-resourced NHS pain services often are, leaving many people without the ongoing support, information, and understanding they desperately need.โ€

Thatโ€™s where charities like Pain Concern make a real difference.

โ€œTheir resources, guidance, and commitment to accessible, compassionate support have been invaluable โ€“ not only to people living with pain, but also to professionals like me who support them.โ€

Taking on the half marathon is a big personal challenge for Sue:

โ€œI havenโ€™t run this far since 2013, but Iโ€™m taking it on because this cause genuinely matters to me. Every mile will be for the people Iโ€™ve worked with, and the many more who are still struggling to be heard.โ€

๐Ÿ’™ Help Sue to help others:

โ€œIf youโ€™re able to sponsor me, youโ€™ll be helping to ensure that people living with chronic pain arenโ€™t left to cope alone. Every donation, no matter the size, really does make a difference.โ€
