We are aware that, at this time of year, when many of you Sponsor our Residents as Christmas gifts, we have lost a considerable amount in donations because of the page being deleted. Please donate to this wonderful vegan sanctuary, if you can.

We put up a post recently asking for donations towards the cost of winter food and bedding for the animals at Eden. We got very few donations. So we repeated the request and our post was shared by a number of our followers. As a result, we got several donations, most of them from people who had not previously donated. We are exceptionally grateful to those of you who shared our post and those of you who donated.

We hope that we may also have gained some more followers who might share our stories of the animals at Eden with their non-vegan family, friends and colleagues. We believe that one of the most powerful types of animal rights activism comes from vegan sanctuaries that share the histories, personalities, sentience, uniqueness and agency of the animals they have come to know, as well as their histories of oppression at the hands of the animal using industries they have escaped.

🐾 We are running low on blankets at our Edinburgh centre 🐾

If you have any you would like to donate to our animals, we'd be very grateful. We have plenty towels, sheets and knitted blankets but are running low on larger fluffy type blankets we use to line dog beds to keep them warm and cosy πŸ’œ (we can't accept duvets/pillows as the stuffing can cause harm if ingested)

We're always blown away by the support we get from these appeals - thanks to anyone who is able to donate! The Edinburgh centre reception is open every day for drop offs between 11am-4pm.

Address for drop offs -
Mansfield Road,
Balerno

Instead of pics of pancakes, we thought we'd share this lovely story instead. Happy

It's Shrove Tuesday and that means it's Pancakes birthday! πŸŽˆπŸŽ‚

Pancake is 5 years old today 😊

His rescue is a miraculous story in that his mum was deemed dangerous at the farm she was at and had been maked for slaughter

Fiona's contact at the livestock market made a call to see if Fiona could help as her behaviour was getting out of hand, and so it was that she was fetched to the sanctuary and put into what is now the Highlands barn.

Now named Gerda, she was clearly in a state and unapproachable, unless you were keen on being charged.

However after a few days, she calmed down after realising she was in a place of sanctuary with no stress.

Some months later, on Shrove Tuesday 2019, we found a pile of fluff partially hidden behind a big bale is straw

The reason for her angry behaviour finally revealed as she was in calf.

She had had all her previous babies taken away from her and you could see how protective she was being towards baby Pancake

After a while, she realised that he wasn't going to be taken away from her and she became very calm

The pair have now lived here since that time and are never far from each other

Pancake is desperate to finish his marathon des cows as he has been at 33% of his target for a long time

Let's see if we can get him across the line today 😊 by finding people willing to spare a pound or more towards helping with his feed costs

See the marathon des cows link in our link tree or the story of this post

Thank you XX
