The very earliest days of our lives, and our closest relationships, can offer clues about how we cope with adversity.

Working from home has many perks. You can make a snack whenever you like and no one knows if you're wearing comfy clothes from the waist down. But neck, back and shoulder pain isn't one of the many benefits. Fortunately, the right stretches can get rids of those aches and pains.

DID YOU KNOW???...
This is the DEATH MASK of a young woman who drowned in the River Seine in the 1880's. As was customary in those days, her co**se was put on display in the Paris mortuary, in the hope that someone might recognize her and claim her body. The pathologist on duty became entranced by the girl with the enigmatic half-smile, and so he commissioned a plaster cast made of her face. This mask was replicated many times over. She became known as "L'Inconnue de la Seine,” or “The Unknown Woman of the Seine.” In 1955, a toy maker named Asmund Laerdal created what we now know as the CPR doll. Asmund wanted his mannequin to have a natural appearance. Remembering a mask on the wall of his grandparents' house many years earlier, he decided that the L'Inconnue de la Seine would become the face of Resusci Anne. So you see, this anonymous woman who drowned in the 19th century is responsible for saving many, many lives the world over. It is said that she has the most kissed face of all time.

" If it’s “diet” and has aspartame and you suffer from pain, then did you know there is a link between excitotoxins, incl. aspartame, and increased pain? If you’re worried about osteoporosis then quit the fizz too, and not in your 50s, but way younger when bone density of your future is also affected." Thanks , Kate.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer ( ) have published a study showing a strong link between an increased risk of early death and those people that regularly consume soft drinks, both and . The study, published in the journal, Jama International Medicine, analysed data from more than 450,000 people, across 10 European countries, including the UK, all with an average age of just over 50. The average follow up was 16 years and any participants with health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or cancer at the beginning of the study were discounted from the analysis.

When compared with participants who drank less than one glass of either sugar or artificially sweetened soft drinks per month, those consuming two or more glasses a day had a higher risk of all-cause mortality. Participants were given questionnaires at the start of the process to gain knowledge of their general lifestyles, and asked to include how many fizzy drinks, fruit squash or energy drinks they consumed, fruit juice was not included. With factors such as body mass index, diet, exercise, smoking and education taken into consideration the increased risk to early death was found to be 17% higher for those drinking two glasses a day compared to those drinking less than one a month.

Looking into the causes of deaths the team found that those frequently consuming artificially sweetened drinks were at an increased risk of death from diseases while those consuming sugar-sweetened drinks had a higher risk associated to death from diseases. Both types of drinks were linked to an increased risk of death from ’s disease. Whether or not artificially sweetened drinks in themselves do harm or those who drink them are more likely to have unhealthy behaviours is unclear, but previous papers on the dangers of , linked below, adds weight to the argument of the danger they pose to our health. Whilst this was an observational study, relying on participants to self-record, it does reinforce health campaigns encouraging us to look for the healthier option when reaching for a drink, with the easiest and cheapest being water.

Weight bearing leg exercises needed for brain and nerve health...everything is REALLY connected to everything else! 😉

New research shows that using the legs, particularly in weight-bearing exercise, sends signals to the brain that are vital for the production of healthy neural cells. The groundbreaking study fundamentally alters brain and nervous system medicine -- giving doctors new clues as to why patients with m...
