This week we’re introducing Bright Light team member Nicole Gillespie, Team Leader, Operations.

Nicole has been at Bright Light for 8 years and has experience of supporting counselling staff and the management team with operations. She cares for the placement counsellors as well as Bright Light clients on a daily basis.

Nicole’s passionate about Bright Light and the benefits of counselling for many scenarios and life experiences. One of the parts she enjoys most about her role is looking after the placement counsellors. “𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐’𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦; 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘐’𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵.”

Nicole’s biggest learning from working at Bright Light is “𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦, 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺. Her favourite quote or mantra is from Buddha, “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦, 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.”

Blue Monday is often referred to as the 'saddest day of the year' but how can we look at it differently to support a more positive start to 2026?
Instead of focusing on the Winter light and New Year expectations, pause with kindness and give yourself permission to rest.
Blue Monday is often referred to as the 'saddest day of the year', but how can we look at it differently to support a more positive start to 2026?
Reach out to someone and check-in. How are they doing?
And if support is needed, remember we're here.

Taking time for yourself isn’t indulgent; it’s essential for your mental health and wellbeing.
By prioritising your health and wellbeing, you’re investing in yourself, plus the people around you will benefit - whether friends, family, or work colleagues.

Start with a few simple steps e.g., taking a short walk, some deep breaths, journaling or making time for exercise and hobbies. 556 1527.
