Blue Monday is often referred to as the 'saddest day of the year' but how can we look at it differently to support a more positive start to 2026?
Instead of focusing on the Winter light and New Year expectations, pause with kindness and give yourself permission to rest.
Blue Monday is often referred to as the 'saddest day of the year', but how can we look at it differently to support a more positive start to 2026?
Reach out to someone and check-in. How are they doing?
And if support is needed, remember we're here.

Taking time for yourself isn’t indulgent; it’s essential for your mental health and wellbeing.
By prioritising your health and wellbeing, you’re investing in yourself, plus the people around you will benefit - whether friends, family, or work colleagues.

Start with a few simple steps e.g., taking a short walk, some deep breaths, journaling or making time for exercise and hobbies. 556 1527.

Real growth begins at the edge of your comfort zone.’ But how often do you let yourself step into those uncomfortable moments? Sticking to familiar routines can feel safe, yet it often holds us back. When we dare to move beyond that space, the shift can be truly life changing, opening doors to new confidence, deeper connections, and a stronger sense of who we are.

You may have heard the phrase “Real growth begins at the edge of your comfort zone.” but how often do you allow yourself to be uncomfortable?
Whilst staying in familiar routines feels safe, it can also limit potential. Moving beyond that space can be transformative, whether personally or professionally.
Here are 4 benefits we often see at Bright Light when clients push beyond their comfort zone:
1️⃣ Career advancement
New challenges build skills and confidence that open doors to leadership opportunities.
2️⃣ Innovation
Fresh experiences spark creativity and problem-solving, vital in today’s fast-changing workplace.
3️⃣ Resilience in relationships
Facing discomfort helps us communicate more openly and adapt to diverse teams.
4️⃣ Personal fulfilment
Growth outside the comfort zone often brings a deeper sense of purpose and satisfaction.
Counselling can support this journey with a safe, reflective space to explore the fears and patterns that hold us back. By understanding the emotional roots of hesitation, professionals can:
• Reframe discomfort as opportunity.
• Build strategies for managing anxiety and uncertainty.
• Strengthen resilience to thrive in new environments.
